The Transport Company is preparing to open the 'Udon Thani-Udon Airport-Nong Khai-Vang Vieng' route this November to facilitate tourists. Preparing to study 5 new routes between Thailand and Laos to support tourism between the 2 countries.

On September 10, Mr. Atthavit Rakjamroon, Director and Acting Managing Director of Transport Co., Ltd. (BKS), revealed that on September 4-5, BKS participated in a meeting to discuss road transport between Thailand and Laos at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel, Vientiane Capital, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), which was organized by the Department of Land Transport (DLT) and the Department of Transport of Lao PDR to follow up on the progress of cooperation in road transport between Thailand and Laos and to discuss and exchange ideas on the transport of goods and passengers under the framework of the agreement on road transport between Thailand and Laos. The meeting discussed several important issues and concluded 6 issues, including:

1. Prepare to open the international transportation service Thailand-Laos, route Udon Thani-Udon Thani International Airport-Nong Khai-Vang Vieng, in early November 2024 to facilitate tourists, creating a convenient, fast and seamless connection between the airport and the Laos-China high-speed railway, after the route was previously temporarily closed in order to improve the route to meet the needs of service users.

Mr. Atthavit said that 2. Prepare to study new international routes between Thailand and Laos, adding 5 more routes: 1. Chiang Mai - Boten 2. Bangkok - Savannakhet 3. Pattaya - Pakse 4. Pattaya - Vientiane and 5. Pattaya - Savannakhet to facilitate and increase passenger options by public transportation connecting the tourist provinces of both countries.

3. Increase the channels for advance ticket sales via online systems and E-Tickets on all international routes. Currently, the Transport Company provides 9 international routes between Thailand and Laos, with 92 trips per day, with 3,000 passengers using both sides per day, including the following routes: Nong Khai-Vientiane, Udon Thani-Vientiane, Nakhon Phanom-Thakhaek, Ubon Ratchathani-Pakse, Bangkok-Pakse, Mukdahan-Savannakhet, Bangkok-Vientiane, Loei-Sayaburi-Luang Prabang, and Chiang Rai-Bokeo.

Mr. Atthavit said that 4. Increase the standard of buses providing service on the Bangkok-Pakse route from the original use of first-class air-conditioned buses, providing service 2 times a day, 1 outbound trip and 1 return trip, to increase to special air-conditioned buses, 2 times a day, 1 outbound trip and 1 return trip.

5. Increase the number of buses on the Mukdahan-Savannakhet route. From the current 7 buses in service, totaling 13 trips per day, add 3 more buses, totaling 10 buses, and add 4 more trips per day, totaling 17 trips per day.

And 6. Increase the number of BKS employees at the Nong Khai Immigration Checkpoint at the Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge No. 1, Nong Khai-Vientiane route, to facilitate travel for passengers.
