Dame Maggie Smith dies aged 89
Actress Dame Maggie Smith has passed away “peacefully” at the age of 89. Smith, best known for starring as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter franchise and Violet Crawley in Downton Abbey, died on Friday 27 September, her family confirmed.

Her 1969 Oscar-winning "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" was brilliant. Much more pithy and socially relevant than wizardry and serialized period drama.

Agree, but she still had bills to pay and she was good in them as well.
