Udon Thani FC 2015-season

Guys, the replies are comprehensive and very helpful so I thank you. Been visiting (and now living) here for 9 years and still learning! It strikes me that this is what the forum should be for rather than some of the other threads where people clearly have too much time on their hands. By the way I am a Leeds supporter back in the UK so, anything UDFC has to offer is bound to be an improvement !

For those who might need "farang" sized shirts, UDFC now has all 3 colours in XXL, 2XL and/or 3XL. They are marked 3L, 4L and 5L in the neck. Last year 2XL (4L) was the biggest size, so nice to see they now have even bigger shirts.
Price for all sizes is 530 baht and the shirts can be bought at the stadium this Saturday and at the UDFC-shop near KFC/UD Town every day.

That's good Svein, although I'd suggest taking along one of your own shirts you know fits you ok, to match up with a new Udon one.

I was in the club shop last weekend and bought the white and orange team shirt in size XL and the same coloured 'We Go Together' shirt (250 baht) as well. Total bill was 800 baht. I also wanted the blue and orange club shirts but at the time they didn't have XL. I must say the ones I did buy are excellent quality.

You might care to have a look at udfc.mamutweb.com or http://www.facebook.com/UDFC info. Svein updates here and you'll find the fixtures, goalscorers etc. too.
Incidentally, important clash this coming Sunday at home to Khon Kaen. It's also live on SMM TV, I'm told, which usually means with the Army making their announcements on most channels starting at 1800 hrs, the official ko time, the start will be delayed perhaps 20-30 minutes! (ANY game kicking off on time here is unusual  ) For those who haven't travelled to the recent away games, first chance to see some new players and a returning favourite - if selected!

Working links: http://udfc.mamutweb.com/default.htm & https://www.facebook.com/UDFCinfo for info and statistics. All previous and upcoming matches can be found there.

You also have https://www.facebook.com/EnglishUDFC if you think pictures of fans, and the Thai people who "likes" them, is the most important thing. ;)

A win will be great, but the important thing is not to lose. It`s still a long way to go (15 matches), so a lot can still happen. It will be interesting to see if all the transfers this month will change the clubs at top 6. All of them is signing new players to get better, but nothing is certain about actually getting better.

UDFC has 8 new players (so far) and has won both matches this months with some of them. 5 of the 8 started at least one of the 2 matches, and 1 has been a sub.
2 of the 8 new players was also signed by the club in June last year. 1 of them didn`t play much last year, and the other 1 came back to Udon too late after a holiday in his own country between the seasons, and was sent on loan to Nong Bua Pitchaya.

It will be another full house tomorrow, and with 2 awaymatches coming up after this one, all footballfans should attend tomorrow`s match. For those who can`t, the match can be seen live on SMMTV.

Not many posts by current members, so here`s ann update for potensial new football interested farangs on Udon Map.
The local football team, Udon Thani FC (UDFC), is playing at home this Saturday at 18.00 at Institute Of Physical Education Stadium. The match is against Ubon Ratchathani in 7th place.
UDFC is 3rd in the table with 6 rounds left. Top-2 will qualify for the promotion play-offs (Champions League), while number 3 will play number 2 in the Southern league for the final spot in the play-offs.

UDFC was in the play-offs in the last 2 seasons, but failed to get promotion. If they qualify for the play-offs again this season, we`ll be having matches until Christmas.

UDFC has 6 wins in a row now, while Ubon Ratchathani are unbeaten in 11. So come to the stadium this Saturday. It will be another full house for sure! :D

Udon Thani FC 2015-season

Let's hope it has the excitement and passion of the Loei away game with two teams really needing to win to ensure their season progressed (but dependant upon the Amnat result elsewhere), perhaps without the negative incidents including BOTH sets of fans wanting to take the referee's head off at different stages in the game, a short 'walk-off' by players, the referee being confronted by players and others who shouldn't even be on the pitch and police/security having to intervene at the end when some Loei fans invaded intent on grabbing the referee! TIT! A great turnout by many Udon fans, including myself and they made a lot of noise in support of the team.
Much as I know Svein and myself would like to go to Ayutthaya, we can't face the prospect of a 0500 hrs start for official buses to the game! Good luck to those who can endure. Unfortunately, no chartered plane, it seems, the quicker journey avoiding the possibility of bus bum sores, driving oneself, staying overnight etc. and getting back at a fairly reasonable time, convincing the wife I'm not up to no good!
At least there'll be the compensation of tv coverage.

Yup, well done Udon. Just to confirm that was the score after a penalty shoot-out, after it finished 0-0 at full time (no extra time played in this game). Not a lot in it and hardly a classic game with Udon, I thought, just coming closest on the chances created by either team. The large number of fans who did travel were rewarded.
Now, as Svein indicated, we await the draw tomorrow to see which teams are in our group, tough or not at least on league records so far, and perhaps more attractive travel-wise.
