There's a nice website on a Canadian Slavery museum here:
http://www.civilization.ca/virtual-muse ... n/slavery/
It's an informative site and the opening line reads: "The issue of slavery in Canada has long been glossed-over by historians and by Canadian society in general."
Check it out.

Khun Kwanteen, I can't be bothered as I learnt about this stuff in high school. They may not teach it to Canadians nowadays, but they sure did when I was younger. You might want to bone up on the history of blacks in Halifax, Nova Scotia in which systemic racism was a feature of life up until fairly recently.

Well, another Canadian birthday has bit the dust with the Toronto Blue Jays thumping the Detroit Tigers 8-3. There was a big crowd on hand at the Rogers Centre, and the first 20,000 in attendance got a free red Blue Jay's cap so the slaughter was worth it. A Canadian soldier did a wonderful and stirring job singing both national anthems (U.S. and Canada).
However, there is bad news on the horizon. The Canadian dollar has fallen from $1.01 to the greenback to 94+ cents and is headed further south.
There were a few shows on Canadian and U.S. TV worth watching marking 200 years since the War of 1812.
Next week at this time I will have landed in Thailand, and will stay 52 days.

Here is Second Lieutenant Scott Newlands performing both anthems back in January before a hockey game. This guy is really good.
