Good luck to Udon in todays draw !
Satun would be a good trip.....direct flight Udon to Hat Yai.....taxi to Satun....watch the game....then get the boat over to the beautiful island of Koh Lipe for a few days relaxation by the sea.
Ideal for Brian and Svein to take their wives/girlfriends down south for a break.....but not the wife and girlfriend, obviously, guys ! :D

UDFC and Satun can not be drawn together. As I said, UDFC is a Southern team in the draw and can not get the Southern winner in the group. All other teams is possible to get in the draw. To get to a beach, Rayong is the only choice in the draw.

Yes,sorry for not reading correctly that Udon cannot play Satun !
But a couple of decent away trips with Chiang Rai this weekend and Rayong on 6th December.
For those considering making a weekend of it,the Dusit Island Resort in Chiang Rai is well recommended and,for those fancying a break by the sea,the Mae Pim Resort in Rayong is good also.....neither are particularily expensive.
With two of their first three matches at home,Udon would look to get maximum points in those games to get off to a good start !

I've still no idea why it's not home alternating with away throughout. I don't think any towns have particular festivals, which might affect the schedule. Then, this peculiarity when the first team one plays, the reverse fixture isn't until the last game. Isn't is more sensible for the reverse of the 1st fixture to be game number 6, similarly 2 and 7 etc. Beats me. And in the middle, play the same team two weeks running.
My difficulty in comprehending some things Thai extends into football too. :?

The club has a flight to Chiang Rai this weekend for those interested. Price is 2200 baht.
Leaving Udon Thani Airport on Saturday at 9am, probably with the team, and back again after the game on Sunday night. So should be back around 11pm on Sunday.
Fans must get their own hotel and it also seems as fans has to get their own transport from Chiang Rai Airport to the hotel, hotel to the Stadium and Stadium to the Airport. Not clear from my Google translation.
For me, the total cost would probably be 4000-4500 baht + food/drinks, but I don`t have my own transport in Udon, and I won`t stay at the cheapest hotels. :-$

UDFC will play their first homegame in the play-offs today, against Rayong. Additional stands at the stadium will probably make the number of fans bigger than ever, so get yourself to the stadium today. Kick-off 18.30, but you should get there early. Tickets now 80 baht.
For those who can`t go to the stadium, the game is live on SMMTV.

Come on, UDFC!! :D

Very early doors today had a sizable group of very nice Rayong fans straight off the plane in for a slurp and brunch , seems a few will be making the trip to support their team tonight ... their plans of a trip into Udons vibrant town center to soak up the samphan strip atmos ?? curtailed somewhat by TUTTH rather strong bevvie selection , menu and warm welcome ... suffice to say all were predicting a Rayong win today ..

Game over n finished 1-1.. a some UDFC fans drop by in good spirits .. just love this location .

The Club shop is next to UD Town, just across the road from KFC. I'd suggest you make sure of your measurements, or take along a shirt you know fits you comfortably to compare.

Tickets for Saturday`s game vs Ubon UMT United is already on sale at the club shop opposite KFC UD Town. Get your ticket in advance if you can`t get to the stadium early. Last Sunday vs Rayong there was approx 5400 tickets sold, and a more than full stadium. This Saturday there might be even more fans attending.
Kick-off is 18.00, and there is no live coverage on TV this time.

Whenever UdonFC is named first in a line, then the game will be in Udon.

UDFC has a big game tomorrow night against Customs United. I'm not a football or soccer fan generally myself hailing from AFL (Aussie Rules Football) territory but I got to say the atmosphere at theses games is fantastic and I have been enjoying the game. It's only 80 baht entrance fee and free for children so I'd encourage any expats in town to take a look.
You also bring a beer to the game if you like. No glasss though but they do sell outside the ground in plastic.

It is a lively atmosphere and very full houses watching Udon at the moment. Certainly good entertainment value for just 80 baht!, although you may struggle to find somewhere to sit unless arriving early. There are many dedicated fans who support the team e.g. those who endured hours on the bus travelling overnight to Bangkok for last week's game - and unfortunately, the defeat. I do find the way the Thai 'support' rather different to fans attending a UK game and sometimes very strange. But make up your own mind. Sorry if I sound a wet blanket, but I have to say there's a fair element there for the party, being seen, selfies, mobiles, eating and drinking, but it's the Thai way not to let a poor performance and result spoil the fun! \:D/

I have to agree with your comments Brian. I'm sure half the crowd attends for the singing, music, drinking and the girls get prettied up to get there face on the the website.
All the same it can be entertaining and if there's anyone in town looking for an interest it's worth a look. It's a good excuse for a road trip when playing away also.
