Coronavirus Policy - update

KRUNGSRI Bank (the yellow bank) offers COVID-19 insurance for Thais & foreigners. For us farangs, you must have been in Thailand 6 months or more. There are 4 levels of coverage from 150 - 850 Baht for 1 year. I bought the 850 baht plan:
1) up to 100,000 Baht for testing and/or hospitalization
2) in the worst case scenario, 1,000,000 Baht Life insurance

There is no medical exam although if sick during the 1st 14 days, they will just refund your money
Also if you have been hospitalized for any of the listed pre-existing condition (I haven't been in the hospital so I'm not sure what the conditions are..sorry).

I don't think it's a matter about having insurance in the case of corona virus.when you turn up at a hospital you'll find a queue probably a mile long and told there's nothing they can do but stay at home.italy will have a better health system for sure and look what's happening there.

Travellers to Thailand have to now show authorities a health certificate, issued no more than 72 hours before travelling, confirming that they have been tested and are free from the virus. They must also present an insurance policy showing minimum coverage for coronavirus of not less than US$100,000.

Hi and if I am overseas (been out side Thailand for the past 4 months) working in a low risk Country, and if I now wish to travel Back to Thailand for a 10-12 day visit next month end of April, can I buy the required insurance,

Q1.To protect /provide me with the insurance - medical treatment & hospital cover, while I am on holiday in Thailand

Q2.That will satisfy the Thai Authorities/Immigration allowing me to enter into Thailand

Q3. Do I need to buy a one month Policy or a six month Policy or a one year Policy

Q4. Do I need to obtain an medical clearance certificate from where I am or just before I arrive in Thailand to make sure the Insurance Policy Cover is in effect when I arrive at Bangkok

Q5. Is there an age limit restriction on who you will provide this Policy to. i.e. Must be under, 60 or under 65 or under 70 years old??

Following information is required by foreign nationals:

Passengers needs to present a health certification at check-in certifying the passenger “pose no risk of being infected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)”, issued no more than 72 hours prior to the date of travel.

Passengers needs to have health insurance (in amount of US$ 100,000) that should cover all expenditures of medical treatment while travelling abroad.

Screenings are held for all arriving passengers

Passengers are recommended to download the application AOT Airport and report their state of health. Please find the app on App Store and Google Play

Passengers are encouraged to self isolation. This means that you are allowed to go out when necessary but avoid situations/ places with crowds.

this has been clarified to state that you need a negative test certificate, and that it will be enforced from tomorrow.

The effect for most passengers is a de facto ban as there are very few countries that will test someone who has no symptoms.

Effective from 21 March, Thailand will introduce additional screening measures for passengers flying to Thailand from the countries listed above. From 22 March, these additional screening measures will apply to passengers travelling to Thailand from all destinations, including those in transit. You should be aware that some scheduled flights are being cancelled and options may become more limited.

Before passengers check-in, airlines will be required to check whether they have recently travelled to the countries above. If a passenger has visited, or is flying from, one of those countries, then they will need to present a medical certificate signed by a medical professional confirming no evidence of the coronavirus infection in the previous 72 hours, and also present evidence of travel insurance of no less than US$100,000 which covers COVID-19. Failure to meet these requirements will mean passengers are not permitted to board their flight.

Thanks for all the answers, but what I meant to say in Q4 - Do I need to obtain an medical clearance certificate from a hospital in my country overseas, to submit with my Application, in order to qualify for/satisfy the Broker to get the Insurance Policy Cover, or will the Policy Cover be issued to me without one?
