Everything I have read so far says chloroquine may work.

This is what I read in Sciencenews:

In lab tests, it can. Both remdesivir and the antimalaria drug chloroquine inhibited the new virus’s ability to infect and grow in monkey cells, virologist Manli Wang of the Wuhan Institute of Virology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and colleagues reported February 4 in Cell Research. Remdesivir also stopped the virus from growing in human cells. Chloroquine can block infections by interfering with the ability of some viruses — including coronaviruses — to enter cells. Wang and colleagues found that the drug could also limit growth of the new coronavirus if given after entry. Chloroquine also may help the immune system fight the virus without the kind of over­reaction that can lead to organ failure, the researchers propose.

Struggling to find any further credible scientific references.

Hopefully, chloroquine will be helpful in the fight against CV19, but it is a long way short at this stage of proven to be "working".

One of my brothers, an architect, swears by a product called copper zap that purportedly stops colds/flu germs in their tracks. One of my other brothers, a PhD in organic chemistry and now a gear head who takes joy out of making small engines out of blocks of steel, says copper is a snakeoil remedy. It's sort of like the climate change discussion............it's up to you on who to believe.

On the subject of tricksters and scams.....the news in the US last night talked about virus-related scams. One was an email that offered to show the details of the spread of the virus. 'click here', it said. The people who clicked got their phones locked and were advised they could unlock their phones for a fee. just sayin'

Impressive. It's amazing to see that they've achieved this without shutting down their respective countries. Singapore was screening visitors from Wuhan as early as 3 January.

China after its initial mistakes seems to be becoming another success story.

I would hope that some of the European countries can confirm their Data over the next month or two with regards to the chance of the infection being "Mild" and also whether that "Recovery" as they call it has any after effect on your lungs?

It is true that most experience mild symptoms. the problem is it spreads so fast and so easy that many will be infected resulting in many deaths. When I posted on this forum months ago that this was serious people did not believe me and were actually sometimes sarcastic about it. This is very serious and we are far from seeing the worst of it. Stay home if you can and stay away from others.

It is something western governments should consider although it seems too late for Italy and Spain.

Here in London my nephew's wife has been ill eight days now and has tested positive for the virus. They only tested her because she has an underlying medical condition. She was very ill indeed for about five days but is feeling somewhat better now but cannot eat properly yet. The hospital phone every day to check how she is and it seems likely she will make a full recovery. My nephew has also been ill but had relatively mild symptoms and feels OK now. Their two young children seem fine.
I am staying at home apart from essential shopping as are most of my neighbours. My other half follows Thai news avidly and she is very worried that the Thai government isn't doing enough to stop it spreading and is fearful for her family in Udon.
Shopping has been difficult as the shelves are being stripped bare by panic buyers very quickly but my local supermarket has now started a "silver hour" first thing in the morning for the over 70s which helps.
Strangely the only bottle left on the shelves this morning was Corona beer!
