Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
Coming from both the Thai jungle drums, and farang jungle drums - and therefore unconfirmed at this point - an unwell farang is rumoured to have caught a bus yesterday from Bangkok to Ban Dung, where he resides in a village on the outskirts of the town.
He reported to the BD hospital today, whereupon he was promptly packed off to the CV19 centre in Udon.
Watch this space for confirmation, or otherwise.
If the former, it ain't good news for us locals (of all nationalities).

couple in US took POTUS 's "good hunch" and tried taking the drug refered to in the 3rd image (phosphate variety). Old man is dead and wife seriously ill ............. Please people ONLY take drugs when a doctor says they are safe.
Item Chloroquine phosphate is to remove bacteria from fish tanks

That comment is entirely irrelevant and not worthy of you. learn some basic politeness please , if it is attempt to be funny, sorry you have failed !
Re: Corona Virus / Covid important Information
It would appear that veteran researchers have decided that this particular STRASIN is not mutating much, making the possibility of a VACCINE easy to formulate. SO the future looks a little brighter

Those people took chloroquine phosphate, not chloroquine as my text suggested.
Chloroquine is becoming rapidy used and accepted as a cure for coronavirus all around the world soince my post.
Moderator, can you please remove his comment as it is offensive and disgusting.

The British Bulldog spirit rises again, it’s great to see so many people prepared to help out, 500,000 volunteers, it shows how we can come together during a crisis.

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
It’s very difficult and a bit unfair to expect any government to store things in the thousands on the basis it “might” happen, 10,000 ventilators for example will cost a lot of money to produce and store, what would have happened if the virus hadn’t hit? It’s a bit like people pissing and moaning in the UK when a motorway is closed through heavy snowfall, how can people expect the local councils to buy and store 10 snowploughs for something that happens every 10 years? Personally I think the British government is starting to respond well, they were a bit slow off the mark which has made the problem worse than it needed to be and more people have died as a consequence but all in all I’d be happy if I were back home now.

I agree with you Vince , but the government still stores thousands of tons of food and vital supplies in its numerous nuclear bunkers , and have done since the fifties .vincemunday wrote: ↑March 26, 2020, 8:43 amIt’s very difficult and a bit unfair to expect any government to store things in the thousands on the basis it “might” happen, 10,000 ventilators for example will cost a lot of money to produce and store, what would have happened if the virus hadn’t hit? Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
I’m not sure the “stores” would be for the likes of us 555 but it’s right the government makes sure it can still function in times of crisis, but, there’s also the time decay issue, this version of the virus might not be as virulent as the inevitable next one, or the next one or indeed the one after that, it’s nigh impossible to make the technology bullet proof against mutating viruses, I think they’re doing it right.

Who could have foreseen the morons buying trolley loads of masks? I’m 100% confident there would have been enough if they had restricted the sales of masks etc immediately instead of waiting, the shortages are people’s ignorance and greed more than actual shortages.

Simple answer. The usage is far higher than could have been reasonably expected.
If you expect to use 1 per day and are now needing 10 or 20 then your stock will disappear extremely quickly.
Don’t forget a lot of PPE is one-time-use.

It is like the government saying they are importing 1 million masks
what is that for 1 day for 1/70 th of the population
Now hospitals should have a months worth of these basics items
and if like masks a 1 time use ppe
that means they need lots not a 100 or 1000 but that many big boxes full of them

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
They do, they did. But increase the use rate from just casualty departments to all staff and from one per shift to one per patient and your many big boxes that they have are used very quickly.
Planning for needing twice your usual numbers is reasonable, stockpiling 100 times is not
