I’ve a feeling that if Rama IX had still been alive he would have too.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

The Guardian adds "and the Commonwealth". I feel sorry for the old girl about the fuss over what family photos she has on display.

Shocking, someone telling the truth on Sky News, don't suppose he'll be invited back anytime soon.

Although I agree with you, let's not pursue that train of thought too ardently. Back on topic, it's heartening to see how the Germans are coping whilst still helping out others.

But now Swedes have a fresh argument: that their country might be the only one in Europe to come out of the coronavirus crisis with the economy semi-intact.

There is, still, no lockdown there. Shopping centres remain open, as are most schools and firms. Many work from home, many don't – all are at liberty to choose. When I called a friend in Stockholm to ask about the Swedish experiment, he was on his way to a book launch. He's still taking his sons to football matches and is proud that Sweden is keeping calm and carrying on. To him there is no Swedish experiment: it's the rest of Europe that is experimenting – by locking down economies in response to a virus which may prove to be no more deadly than flu.

Interesting to follow a different idea
seems that the "experiment" may be about to have a disastrous outcome .....

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-heal ... SKBN21L23R
Reading the justification for their softly-softly approach as stated by the Swedish Health Minister, “Locking people up at home won’t work in the longer term,” he said. “Sooner or later people are going to go out anyway.”

That has startling parallels with the UK government's excuse for not having a harder, enforced lock down. They claimed that clamping down too hard, too early will result in people getting quickly bored with the forced isolation and then ignoring the rules and "breaking out".

Then surely that's why you need to have a hard, enforced lock down with the police and army to enforce it while you still have a largely fit and healthy police and army to do it, no?

Excellent post there thanks. By those pregnant pauses before she spoke, I reckon Dr Desai certainly got the Fox blonde of the day's attention. As mak's cartoon post indicated, the Covid-19 virus is natively immobile. It uses the legs of humans to get around so they should stop moving around.

Some ponder how Thai people will respond to a government ordered and enforced all-day/all night curfew. I am more interested in how the population of the self-proclaimed 'Land of the Free' will respond.

Thailand's air space will be TOTALLY closed from next Tuesday. I think stopping buses, trains and all non-essential vehicles and people movement is simply the next logical and inevitable step.

An anti-parasitic drug available throughout the world has been found to kill COVID-19 in the lab within 48 hours.

A Monash University-led study has shown a single dose of the drug Ivermectin could stop the SARS-CoV-2 virus growing in cell culture.

"We found that even a single dose could essentially remove all viral RNA (effectively removed all genetic material of the virus) by 48 hours and that even at 24 hours there was a really significant reduction in it," Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute's Dr Kylie Wagstaff said on Friday.

While it's not known how Ivermectin works on the virus, the drug likely stops the virus dampening the host cells' ability to clear it.

The next step is for scientists to determine the correct human dosage, to make sure the level used in vitro is safe for humans.

"In times when we're having a global pandemic and there isn't an approved treatment, if we had a compound that was already available around the world then that might help people sooner," Dr Wagstaff said.

"Realistically it's going to be a while before a vaccine is broadly available."

Before Ivermectin can be used to combat coronavirus, funding is needed to get it to pre-clinical testing and clinical trials.

Ivermectin is an FDA-approved anti-parasitic drug also shown to be effective in vitro against viruses including HIV, dengue and influenza.

The study is the joint work of Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute and the Peter Doherty Institute of Infection and Immunity.

The study findings have been published in Antiviral Research.

The villages are being sprayed with some sort of disinfectant
Chiang Yuen was sprayed for a second time yesterday and the local market there has been shut
Not sure where the locals will get food from
Possibly end up going to other village markets
not such a good idea

I, too, saw some spraying yesterday, but no idea what they were spraying or why. Don't they usually spray for mosquitoes, anyway?

For mosquitos, a fogging gun is used - you can't miss the difference.

On the bright side, with half the world locked up in their houses away from the sun, there should be a big reduction in cases of skin cancer

Why is this happening?
Has anybody on this forum witnessed or heard of anyone passing away of Covid-19 in their village??
Any reports of infections?
I don't get it.
The numbers being reported in Thailand are really low.
If we had a situation like The US,Spain,Italy etc....then sure....but WTF?
I live in Ning Bua Lumphu province and have direct clear communication with senior hospital staff and village heads.
No news of anything here.
I'm locked down and am OK with all that's happening but I'm not sure why it's happening.
