The villages are being sprayed with some sort of disinfectant
Chiang Yuen was sprayed for a second time yesterday and the local market there has been shut
Not sure where the locals will get food from
Possibly end up going to other village markets
not such a good idea
Why is this happening?
Has anybody on this forum witnessed or heard of anyone passing away of Covid-19 in their village??
Any reports of infections?
I don't get it.
The numbers being reported in Thailand are really low.
If we had a situation like The US,Spain,Italy etc....then sure....but WTF?
I live in Ning Bua Lumphu province and have direct clear communication with senior hospital staff and village heads.
No news of anything here.
I'm locked down and am OK with all that's happening but I'm not sure why it's happening.
Preventative measures. Not all tambons and moo bahns follow the same procedures. Don't panic.

I wonder how many hundreds (thousands) have died at home in UK of CV19 complications that have been recorded as something different on their death cert due to the doctor/coroner involved not doing autopsy or tests coz they did not have the time .......... he is already dead, had history of lung cancer so stick that on the paperwork and lets go treat someone who is still alive

This is from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine scientists

I may be of interest to some :-k :-k

Extract:
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine scientists announced a potential vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus causing the COVID-19 pandemic. When tested in mice, the vaccine, delivered through a fingertip-sized patch, produces antibodies specific to SARS-CoV-2 at quantities thought to be sufficient for neutralizing the virus.

The authors are now in the process of applying for an investigational new drug (IND) approval from the Food and Drug Administration in anticipation of starting a phase I human clinical trial in the next few months.

“Testing in patients would typically require at least a year and probably longer,” Falo said. “This particular situation is different from anything we’ve ever seen, so we don’t know how long the clinical development process will take. Recently announced revisions to the normal processes suggest we may be able to advance this faster.”

For those who looked aghast at the figures coming out of China, then Italy and France, this should be rather sobering:
On Wednesday he published his updated research. It shows America’s curve of confirmed cases rising more steeply than that of any other country in the world.

Three weeks ago, Pueyo reminds us, the US had fewer than 1,000 confirmed cases at a time when Trump was telling the world: “No, I’m not concerned at all. No, I’m not. No, we’ve done a great job.”

Now it stands at almost a quarter of a million. “This is what exponential growth looks like,” he said.

The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

Try and come up with something CREDIBLE that suggests that the British coroners are so rushed off their feet they are tagging and bagging without checking.

I am having chicken curry for dinner, BTW.

If I had told you a month ago that NHS nurses & doctors would be treating patients without the correct PPE you wouldnt have believed that either

I made a veggie curry today with chicken nuggets & pasta

But you didn't so I couldn't.

Is that a hypothetical curry BTW?

Possibly some light at the end of the tunnel

Maybe though the tunnel is not a short one.

Of large developed countries Spain and Italy have the highest deaths per million (251 & 243) and are probably having to decide who to let die because they don’t have the staff or equipment.

It’s is an even more sobering thought that the supposed most powerful person in the world thinks that a death rate between 303 per million & 606 would mean that he has done a great job.

Britain suffers its worst day yet in coronavirus crisis as 708 die in one day taking total to 4,313 but number of new infections rises by just 3,735 - smallest increase in four days

Wasn't so much the pure numbers I was trying to highlight, vince - more the rate of increase ie the "curve"

Having said that, I haven't looked at the curve for the other countries I mentioned.

Mrs tam ate all the chook curry so I had to do with a home-made bacon cheeseburger (without bacon).

I doubt you will have to wait to come up with a real reason why the UK statistics may be a bit suspect and it's got faff all to do with indolent or overworked professional coroners either.

Coronavirus UK death toll: why what we think we know is wrong

The figure we are all watching is likely to be an under-report, which is skewing the curve
