I'm not sure this offers much hope, many of my friends back home are exasperated and feel a little bit hopeless because of the amount of people ignoring the government, some people are still going to parks and beaches and totally ignoring the two metre rule. This is a report that tells the story of a day in ICU, the doctor says she can't remember losing so many patients in a week and things are just getting worse.

letting all the loonies out for "a run" or "a bike ride" was the stupidest idea they could possibly have come up with.

Just look at the pics from Uk ....... park bench with bike and d/h resting in the sun, bikes lying next to picnicers

They new the age group that was going to ignore the regulations most
They new the generation that think going to the gym before going to the pub is a good idea

It wasnt rocket science ...... be like France, if you MUST go out to excercise then after dark when less people about

truly worrying that half a billion could be pushed into poverty

Thats gonna take a hell of a lot of work to help that many recover from poverty

There again if we lifted the worldwide lockdowns the chances are those half a billion poor individuals and many millions of not so poor people will be dead and we will not be able to help them get them out of poverty

My answer would be to leave them all in lockdown, (the poor countries) and us get back to business so we can support them and ourselves.
There's gunna be tons of deaths whichever way we go, but if you really care about total deaths and not regions, societies etc, that's the way to go.

It's a ---- situation, but we gotta try

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.
Big C near Sakon Nakon Road/Ring Road.

I'm aware the small retailers in there are closed regarding Covid. The Big C supermarket itself is still open.

Our electric hot water kettle/jug (the 2-3 Litre type for making tee/coffee, etc) has just broken.
I was going to Big C tomorrow to buy a new one.

My wife has said that Big C supermarket are now only selling food items and won't sell electrical items. Has anyone been in today and can confirm this?

That is certainly the case in Big C Ban Dung - so I imagine it is a nation-wide policy.

I,ve got no link for this so I do apologise...
The jungle drums on our estate are saying that the Prajaktra Hotel near Udon Hospital is to be used for keeping Covid patients under observation.
Certainly the entrance to the car park from the rear of the hotel is now completely blocked off.
I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything ?
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

With regard to Makro in Udon, last week I saw a chap securing 4 boxes with electric fans on his load in his pick-up. When inside, I could see the hardware sections to the left is fenced off but staff were still behind the fence with a gate. It looked like it was possible to buy but you couldn't go in and browse? You named what you wanted and staff brought it to the gate like Global House were doing. May be order online and pick up?

If anyone is shopping there today, maybe they can check? There's plenty signs in Thai but I didn't have my pocket-sized translator with me.

From the article quoted, "Reinfection could not occur in SARS-CoV-2 infected rhesus macaques."

I wonder if those were the same rhesus macaques that were smuggled out of the bioresearch lab and ended up being sold at the nearby wet market?

...or was it the bats?
