What strange times we are living in - when normal forum housekeeping is turned into a conspiracy.

RL,
It sort of debunks all the scaremongering, doesn't it?
Funny that

It's groundbreaking, factual information.jackspratt wrote: ↑April 14, 2020, 9:38 amWhat strange times we are living in - when normal forum housekeeping is turned into a conspiracy.
The type of information that the whole world has been waiting for.
I think it deserves it's own thread!!!

I'm not a god but I reported it for being in the wrong place and the mods moved it.RLTrader wrote: ↑April 14, 2020, 9:33 amor the gods here want it buried so not seenjackspratt wrote: ↑April 14, 2020, 9:27 amProbably because you put it in the "General Udon Thani Forum".
Now it's in the right place, ie. "Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc."
The Udon Thani forum is like a breath of C19-free fresh air. Just trying to keep it that way and not another fetid mire of opinions, facts, conspiracy theories and fake news.

I did read it - as best I could, because it is almost unintelligible.
Given that ABC14News is of highly dubious credibility, and this story seems to have been put together by a non-English speaker, I went to the source ie The Economist.
https://www.economist.com/graphic-detai ... -good-news
Their conclusion:
No doubt there will be numerous other studies, both in the future, and probably currently, which will agree, or disagree with Messrs J. Silverman & A. Washburne of Johns Hopkins CSSE.This sounds alarming, but should be reassuring. Covid-19 takes 20-25 days to kill victims. The paper reckons that 7m Americans were infected from March 8th to 14th, and official data show 7,000 deaths three weeks later. The resulting fatality rate is 0.1%, similar to that of flu. That is amazingly low, just a tenth of some other estimates. Perhaps it is just wrong, possibly because the death toll has been under-reported. Perhaps, though, New York’s hospitals are overflowing because the virus is so contagious that it has crammed the equivalent of a year’s worth of flu cases into one week.

Meanwhile, some Scottish scientists have come out batting... for the bats.

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
Even if the death rate is similar to (unproven) the flu (nobody has enough data yet) a significant difference is that fewer people who come into contact with the Flue became infected or seriously ill due to prior exposure to that particular strain so having some degree of protection. With this it seems far more infectious and nobody has any previous exposure so no immunity and no treatment (apart from oxygen) or vaccine available yetjackspratt wrote: ↑April 14, 2020, 10:45 am

The mayor came by our mooban last week to give a care package to my daughter and two other ladies. Part of the Covid-19 relief program.

Deadly coronavirus comes in three variants, researchers find
Types A, B and C are all derived from the pathogen first found in bats but have evolved in different ways, according to a report by British and German geneticists
Findings show the virus has become well adapted to human transmission and mutates as it spreads, Chinese epidemiologist says
Geneticists from Britain and Germany have mapped the evolutionary path of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 and determined there are currently three versions of it spreading around the world.
The discovery of how the variants were formed and then spread could help scientists to identify its source and explain why it is so contagious.
The researchers analysed the first 160 complete viral genomes sequenced from human patients between December 24 and March 4, then reconstructed the early evolutionary pathway of Covid-19 in humans through its mutations.
“There are too many rapid mutations to neatly trace a Covid-19 family tree. We used a mathematical network algorithm to visualise all the plausible trees simultaneously,” said Peter Forster, a geneticist at University of Cambridge and lead author of the study.

Ventilators may be killing COVID-19 patients. The treatment is all wrong. Oxygen deprivation is the problem, not respiratory failure. Stunning information from NYC doctor treating the worst cases...
