Perhaps things aren't as rosy in Germany either!

I'm sure the sun is at this moment trying to arrange a similar protest by the NHS Phillipino nurses

I think I'll wait for the inevitable post-mortem before I pass judgement, if it turns out that's what happened there's some questions that need answers.
The questions have stopped being asked already vince. Same goes for why does Dominic Cummings get to attend and actively participate in SAGE meetings while the Medical Officers and Scientific Officers from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are only allowed written submissions?

Now it appears that Boris, who as recently as 2 days ago was declared to be "raring to go", may demur from facing Starmer at the latter's first PMQ session since becoming the loo keeper.

I think once everything has settled down to the new “normal” this whole shebang will be revisited, examined and answers will be gleaned, it has to be, we have to be more prepared than we were this time and this doesn’t mean stockpiling tons of PPE or machinery that has a shelf life but good solid systems that can be put in place ready for the next inevitable wave of Covid 19 or its successor. There have been huge mistakes, some going back as far as 2009 which has cost hundreds if not thousands of lives and it needs to be sorted but I’m not suggesting we should go on a witch hunt that will solve nothing.

Just seen the Thai numbers from Yesterday ..only 7 cases but sadly 2 more deaths ..at some point with the recoveries increasing n new cases slowing we could get to a time with zero cases zero deaths ..COULDNT WE ??

note in every article with regard to the daily numbers the same comment ..

" due to the limited number of tests being carried out the actual number of infections may be higher "

We are over the worst for now I think John and 0/0 is a distinct possibility, fingers crossed and hopefully, we will be better prepared, all of us, for it’s return.

I don't think the world is even close to half time on this. And there's no law of nature that because Covid 19 has the world in crisis, another "vicious" virus won't soon also jump from animals to humans. These animal to human transmissions seem to be arising fairly frequently in recent decades.

Yes I agree, I meant just this wave of course and only in Thailand, I'm sure as the viruses mutate things will get worse again, hopefully we'll be better prepared..

I agree , most of them from third world countries with little or no sanitation or hygiene regulations .
The way animals are reared , slaughtered and prepared for human consumption its small wonder you will get viruses and other infections .
These viruses being perfected in poorly run labs , does help either .

To clarify having been advised
A. Coronaviruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans, coronaviruses cause respiratory tract infections that can range from mild to lethal. Mild illnesses include some cases of the common cold, while more lethal varieties can cause SARS, MERS, and COVID-19.

B Orthomyxoviridae is a family of RNA viruses. It includes seven genera: Influenzavirus A, Influenzavirus B, Influenzavirus C, Influenzavirus D, Isavirus, Thogotovirus, and Quaranjavirus. The first four genera contain viruses that cause influenza in vertebrates, including birds, humans, and other mammals.

Everyone now completely clear.
Maybe this will answer part of the question, as to why the Covid 19 has a different effect on certain Countries populations around the World. It would also be interesting to read the Cambridge University Study. :-k :-k

https://www.news.com.au/world/coronavir ... aa1df80517

Extract: Australians diagnosed with coronavirus could be suffering from one of two different strains of the disease, one of which is a “daughter” to the original strain found in China, new research has found.

A study by Cambridge University researchers mapping the “evolutionary path” of the virus as it spread from Wuhan, China found three distinct strains in different parts of the globe.

They have been dubbed A, B and C by researchers, based on a study of 160 genomes taken from patients between 24 December and 4 March in a process known as “phylogenetic network analysis” which essentially maps the family tree of COVID-19.

Variant A is the “original human virus genome” and is closest to the “root of the outbreak”, researchers believe. It was found in Wuhan and is most similar to the type of virus found in bats.

Surprisingly however, researchers found the A variant was not Wuhan’s dominant virus type. Instead, mutated versions of A were found in Americans that lived in Wuhan and A-type viruses were also found in patients in Australia and the US.

Type B is derived from A and separated by two mutations. This was the main type found in Wuhan city and across East Asia.

Instead, a third virus strain known as Type C – which is the “daughter” of B – has been found across Europe and is also present in Sydney, according to the virus tree.It is the major variant found in early patients in France, Italy, Spain and the UK. It was absent from China’s sample but also found in Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea
