BritishPM

Post by Old Grumpy » July 23, 2019, 6:05 pm

Another tousled haired blonde enters the world stage.Wonder if his parents knew what he would become when they named him Boris? If he can do what he talks it will be good, but I doubt it, the only thing he may achieve is to make Corbyn look intelligent at prime ministers question time, thats a major achievement in itself.

That explains a lot - he is still thinking in Greek! But something is lost in translation .....

A Washington Post editorial opines:

"Such rhetoric is typical of Mr. Johnson, an intelligent and witty former journalist who is known for improvisation, inattention to detail and frequent false statements. In that, and in his populist appeals to older Britons who long for bygone days when the country was a world power, the new prime minister resembles President Trump. But Mr. Johnson has mostly avoided Mr. Trump’s hateful appeals to racism and ugly disparagement of opponents; instead, he offers an upbeat vision of a country that can rise again if only, as he put it Tuesday, “we . . . believe in ourselves and what we can do.”

Americans can only hope he succeeds, as the continuance of Britain’s political gridlock will only further weaken the West at a time when its democratic values are under assault from foreign powers and domestic extremists".

Who shouted Boris his holiday? Possibly some disreputable wealthy chap. A dodgy Russian? A dodgy Arab? A dodgy American?

Hopefully it wasn't Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum. That would be a dreadful look.

Boris is much more fun than Jacinda. She had her summer holiday in Oz; I think she was in New South Wales. It was pretty much a typical Kiwi holiday. Not hanging out with billionaires. Perhaps a bit old fashioned.

If it was so well covered up that the police could not bring charges or the MSM did not scream it from the highest rooftops how come YOU know about it? Please share with us your font of knowledge. Hope its not the Guardian.

I suppose this was a Boris Johnson job:

Zac Goldsmith, being elevated to the House of Lords, despite losing his seat in the last election. And then he gets appointed to the cabinet.

"The painful conclusion is that Britain has the wrong sort of government for a pandemic—and, in Boris Johnson, the wrong sort of prime minister. Elected in December with the slogan of “Get Brexit Done”, he did not pay covid-19 enough attention. Ministers were chosen on ideological grounds; talented candidates with the wrong views were left out in the cold. Mr Johnson got the top job because he is a brilliant campaigner and a charismatic entertainer with whom the Conservative Party fell in love. Beating the coronavirus calls for attention to detail, consistency and implementation, but they are not his forte."

Boris visited Scotland to save the union. Mission accomplished — for the SNP

An insignificant wee fishing harbour and a cheese factory on Orkney then afternoon tea at RAF Lossiemouth on the way home and a promise of 50 million quid 'loan' to the northern and western isles

Winning!

boris is a " show pony" . impresses the easily cowed masses with his shakespearean acting
performances and reference dropping re classics

unfortunately what britain needs is a leader with
a spine. like the old days when brits had character

If there were an election tomorrow he would win again.
