Thailand on Saturday (May 15) reported 3,095 new COVID-19 cases, and 17 additional deaths over the last 24 hours.



● 2,218 new infections

● 877 prison / prison infections



Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 99,145 with 565 deaths.



The news comes as Buriram becomes first Thai province to penalize refusal for COVID-19 vaccine.

Extract: Washington: COVID-19 vaccines approved by the United States like Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson have effectiveness against the B1617 variant of the virus that is predominant in India, which is experiencing one of the worst outbreaks of the pandemic, a top American health official said.

The observation is based on the latest data about the variant and the three major vaccines approved by the United States, said Dr Francis Collins, Director of the National Institute of Science.

“The data is coming in, and it looks very encouraging that the US-approved vaccines, the Pfizer, the Moderna, the J&J, do have effectiveness against this variant called B1617,” Collins told the media.

That is not contradictory at all.

There are facts and opinions drawn from those facts.

I think that some of the benefit is unfortunately incorrectly stated and that casts unnecessary doubt on the other benefits.

It is not now and never can be a replacement for vaccination.

It is now very useful in reducing effects on people catching COVID-19 but some still die.

It should be in wide use for anyone who hasn’t yet been vaccinated to give some protection until they get vaccinated.

I don’t know of studies checking if it has an effect on vaccination protection.

The part that got me and made me go back, because I didn't know originally it was an opinion piece, and start reading it again was, "If Ivermectin was more widely used, there'd be no need for vaccines".

That is one of the 2 most glaring errors that make it completely understandable that it’s published on a platform that shares the feature with the orange blimp of being permanently banned from FarceBook.

It makes people doubt the very very real benefits of Ivermectin by claiming much more than it does.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand reported on Monday a daily record of 9,635 new coronavirus cases, including 6,853 among prisoners, as the Southeast Asian country struggles with a third wave of infections.
The combined cases bring the country's total infections to 111,082.
Thailand's COVID-19 task force also recorded 25 new deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 614 since the pandemic started last year.
