Thailand on Saturday (May 22) reported 3,052 new COVID-19 cases and 24 more deaths.

● 2,447 new infections
● 605 prison / prison infections

Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 126,118 with 759 deaths.

The news comes as the Thai government has promised millions of doses of locally produced and imported Covid-19 vaccines before the end of the year. Mass vaccination of Thais and foreigners begins in five provinces next month.

It didn't get much traction in the local news so forgive me if it has already been reported here but the Thai government agreed to extend the SoE through end of July.

With the Indian variant now in play I'm sure they would extend the SoE indefinitely BUT (I believe) under the constitution they can only extend it to a maximum 3 month intervals

Thailand on Sunday (May 23) reported 3,382 new COVID-19 cases and 17 more deaths.

Health officials said 460 cases were discovered in prisons.

A further 2,131 people were discharged having made a full recovery.

Sunday's cases brings the total number of cases during the third wave (from April 1) to 100,637.

The news comes as scientists in Thailand on Saturday (May 22) claimed they had detected the first local cases of the coronavirus variant discovered in South Africa.

The South African variant, known as B.1.351, carries mutations that threaten the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, several studies have shown

In Thailand, the variant was identified in three test samples from a cluster of infections that could be linked to illegal migration in the south of the country, the COVID-19 Network Investigations Alliance said in a report.

Health officials were expected to comment on the discovery of the South African during Sunday's COVID-19 briefing

As of Sunday, 1,210 (-6) patients are in critical condition, with 412 (+3) of them relying on ventilator. About 1.46 percent of the population is fully vaccinated, with 1,898,332 (+48,939) people received the first dose, while 966,759 (+4,603) received the second dose.

The South African variant has now been detected in Thailand along with the Indian variant a few days ago.

Monday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 132,213 with 806 deaths.

The news comes as Thai border controls will tighten after the discovery of three local cases of the South African COVID-19 variant stemming from illegal border crossings.

Went to the Amphoe office by Nong Prajak earlier for a Kor Ror 2 & was turned away by uniforms due to a positive Covid result that morning. They will be closed indefinitely from now so anyone needing their services should make other plans for the next few days

The land office is closed for 3 days due a covid case there .. 7 infections so far ..also Faroh House restaurant a 3 day closure fir spraying as a customer who later tested positive had visited the restaurant ...not sure if both locations are connected with reference to the same group being infected.

Tuesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 135,439 with 832 deaths.

The news comes as Health Minister Anutin declared that there was plenty of vaccine against Covid-19 for everyone.

I think the "Message", being sent to All, is to, "Obey the Laws of the Country (Singapore), when you are there.

Singapore's manpower ministry has "Permanently" (i.e. Forever) banned eight Britons from working in the country after they flouted its strict COVID-19 rules by getting together on a yacht last year, local media and authorities said on Thursday. OK the event, was in December 2020, but,

Obviously not too clever?, if they thought they could get away with it, in a Country which is known for having some strict behavior laws and associated penalties, related to, chewing gum, not smoking in many places, littering, graffiti, not feeding the pigeons, making a noise after 10.00pm, annoying someone with a musical instrument or singing in public.

Can't find out if they will also cop a Fine of up to S$10,000 or up to six months in jail, or both.
