September 7 was anti corruption day

Post by Whistler » September 8, 2023, 3:35 pm

The new PM announced at the anti corruption celebratory meeting, he is going to come down hard on corruption in the government.

Well done sir, we look forward to you succeeding in your quest. How about election integrity as your first target?

He only has to pick up the phone to his de-facto leader to get advice on integrity and honesty. :^o

But why do they even need such a day? Prayut told the nation on Coup Day in May 2014 that stamping out corruption was at the top of the list of reasons for throwing out (by force) an elected government.

Looking on the bright side, there is no shortage of experts on corruption for the PM to draw from, on the extent, who is corrupt, and the nature of corruption, that makes his job easier, No?

Maintaining the tradition of immediate post-election politics, it's all been buried already.

Note that most all the names that were high-profile before the election like Tu and Noo and Big Joke have either submerged to periscope-depth or gotten clean out of these shark-infested waters.

Well slap my bottom with a stick of celery .. i never knew the 7th was anti corruption day and i got robbed by a motorsai taxi rider in Bkk going from Suk 101 to alley 30 gave him 40 bt and i was informed its only 20.. i suppose thats more light day light robbery than corruption and i did claim back the full 60 bt on expenses.
As most seasoned expats know corruption here especially within the civil service is just taken as being the norm ..from land transaction tax to even obtaining a house book water and electric meter can all be sped up if the wheels are greased, its how its been for decades and cant see anything changing regardless who is in power it just means the big corruption goes to a different people.

Sounds like DM didn't inquire as to the fare before jumping on the back of the motosai.

But spot-on viz the corruption roundabout. Same s**t, different day, different snouts.

Here's a good test for the new government in the follow up to reduce corruption. If nothing much happens in this case, we'll know which side of the law counts.

Call on his deputy and all provincial governors to do what now?

Maybe he's forgotten how provincial governors and police chiefs from all over Chonburi used to go to "Kamnan Po's" house every year to celebrate his birthday. This despite the existence of his arrest warrant for murder while the police and various administrations actively propagated the myth that they couldn't do anything as he was hiding in Cambodia.

and then when Kamnan Poh was finally arrested and bundled off to Bangkok remand prison he was out in less than 24 hours and esconced in the Chon Buri Provincial Hospital VIP suite with police guards.. Note, one of his extended family has fled to Cambodia to avoid arrest for ignoring a warrant issued years ago for charges that were due to expire in mere days..
