Cricket 2023
Re: Cricket 2023
It was once a voodoo for Aussies to play countries in the sub-continent. The Aussies now have got their act together of how to play in those countries.
Re: Cricket 2023
A bit JS but IPL pitches vary greatly. Those grounds that use red soil have strong pace attacks. Whereas those that use black soil help spinners. Test pitches and the one we saw for the final were prepared to assist spinners which plays into Indian bowling strengths. While we have praised the batters here, the Australian fast bowlers were very, very good on such wicketsjackspratt wrote: ↑November 22, 2023, 11:09 amThe India Premier League (IPL) has been running since 2008, so I imagine plenty of players in the Oz team have had prior experience in batting in Indian conditions in limited overs cricket.

What about that dark-skinned Aussie who I recall was a rock in the first couple of Ashes matches? Also assisted in getting at least a couple of racist MCC members shitcanned after the Long Room altercation.
Well done that man.

Spot on Tam. Usman Tariq Khawaja is a Pakistani Muslim and a proud Australian, one very smart boy too.
He must piss off the racists no end who want to pigeon-hole Muslims based on race and religion. Judge people on their character, not on the colour of their skin or their religion.
Yes, well done that man.

Usman Tariq Khawaja is an Australian cricket player of Pakistani ethnicity that follows the Muslim faith.
Obviously never played for Yorkshire CCC.

letter calls for Mitch Marsh to be handed ‘lifetime ban’ from India
“By putting his feet on something that Indians consider sacred [the trophy], Marsh has disrespected both religious and cultural sentiments of the nation,”

Since when was a sporting trophy sacred? Ridiculous!

Re: Cricket 2023
Some people moaned about some of the pitches during the Ashes, most notably a player in the team that failed to win.
Managing the conditions is an integral part of the game but maybe Abdul Razak doesn't appreciate that.

There certainly are some ridiculous things you can read on forums.

Re: Cricket 2023
In Queenstown in Tasmania, the land for kilometers was subject from acid rain, not a blade of grass, not a green leaf on a shrub or tree. The locals in football, tackled without ripping their legs apart. They developed a unique tackling technique. Others in Tasmania playing at Queenstown were left bloodied.
The pitches for the World Cup in India also were made with surfaces DESIGNED to give locals a familiar surface, but to bamboozle those with little experience with such a pitch. Well done Razak. This was an International competition and respect to allow a fair completion was not regional, it was to get the best of the best on even conditions. End of story, fail by India.

Re: Cricket 2023
Not enough interest in cricket to start a new thread but, I wondered how our resident Aussies feel about the prospect of throwing their game against the Jocks to knock England out of the T20 world cup.
Its obviously a win win for the Jocks but, surely the Aussies arent so pathetic in their irrational hatred of English cricket are they?

Re: Cricket 2023
No need for the Aussies to manufacture a result to rid the poms from the tournament. They are doing that all by themselves at this point.
We will just keep pushing ahead in a confident manner and try to win. Our test comes against the Indians later.

No way Sam, the Aussies are better than that...samster wrote: ↑June 12, 2024, 11:01 pmNot enough interest in cricket to start a new thread but, I wondered how our resident Aussies feel about the prospect of throwing their game against the Jocks to knock England out of the T20 world cup.

The Jocks couldn't even win the game when Oz were handing it to them on a plate.
Now we've got the group lottery out of the way we will just keep pushing on in a confident manner. Out test comes against the Indians later. The Aussies wouldn't be lucky enough to beat us twice.

Tern it up, sam.
5 minutes ago you were suggesting we would cheat to keep the cheating Poms out - and now you take it up another notch and imply that luck would play any part in Oz flogging a mob who struggled to beat Oman.

What was that? Something like six dropped catches? Warner out for 1. Three first-teamer's off shopping. They did give it a shot, but I guess any "world class" team can have a rubbish day, eh?deankham wrote: ↑June 14, 2024, 11:49 amNo way Sam, the Aussies are better than that...samster wrote: ↑June 12, 2024, 11:01 pmNot enough interest in cricket to start a new thread but, I wondered how our resident Aussies feel about the prospect of throwing their game against the Jocks to knock England out of the T20 world cup.

Re: Cricket 2023
The least you could have acknowledged your Scotland team had a good crack in this tournament.
They played what was dished up to them quite well.
I say well done Scotland for a fine tournament. But the powerful batting available to Australia in the first 7 batsmen is a huge hurdle to overcome for any team.
