Donald Trump: Promises vs. Reality
• Promised to cut the deficit but added $8 trillion to it.
• Promised to build a wall; completed only 458 miles out of 2,000, mostly repairs.
• Promised Mexico would pay for the wall; they didn’t.
• Promised the largest deportations in history; Obama carried out more
• Promised a new healthcare plan; it never existed.
• Promised a middle-class tax cut; primarily cut taxes for the rich, leaving the middle class to bear the burden.
• Promised not to play golf; made 250 visits to his own golf clubs, costing taxpayers $150 million.
• Promised to increase economic growth by 4,5,6 percent; didn’t achieve 3% but once, President Biden did.
• Promised an infrastructure plan; had none, President Biden signed a massive one.
• Promised to hire “the best people”; fired 3/4 of them, then labeled them the worst.
• Promised to reduce prescription drug prices; didn’t happen, President Biden did.
• Promised to win the trade war with China; it cost about a quarter million jobs and $36 Billion to bailout Farmers
• Promised corporate tax cuts would benefit workers; corporations used the money to buy back stocks instead.
• Promised to revive the coal industry; more coal jobs were lost during his presidency.
• Promised to drain the swamp; He was the swamp, January 6th insurrection and his Fake Electors conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election proves it.
• Promised to three different women to be faithful, failed each time, last time condomless with a porn star.

But one of his attractions for the gormless Cult is that he does what he says he will do, and delivers on his promises.

Re: U.S. Politics
Liz Cheney is considered to be a Democrat by Republican voters. Cheney was hammered, trounced by an authentic Republican, Harriet Hageman.
Cheney couldn't even get out of the primary in Wyoming.
Democrats in Wyoming voted for Cheney in the hopes that they could get her re-elected, but Cheney didn't even get out of the 30% range. Hageman was easily at 2-1 victor over the masquerading Cheney.

Remember this?
Re: U.S. Politics
She (Liz) only had her seat, because she was related to Dick
I think Nepotism (especially with immediate family) in politics is damaging

Tulsi Gabbard formally resigned from the Democrat Party before she endorsed anyone in the Republican party.

Re: U.S. Politics
Being related to Dick isn't why she lost. Cheney did not follow the wishes of her constituents.

True enough. Her margin of defeat was the second-worst for a House incumbent in the last 60 years.Declan MacPherson wrote: ↑October 4, 2024, 3:50 pmLiz Cheney is considered to be a Democrat by Republican voters. Cheney was hammered, trounced by an authentic Republican, Harriet Hageman.
We'll have to have a legitimate disagreement about who is, and what constitutes, a true Republican. Republicans are traditionally the more conservative party, and what could be more conservative than adherence to the Constitution. Yet former Preident Trump was searching for ways to suspend the Constitution near the end of his term.
From my perspective, the Republican party is more of a personality cult than a political party since Trump took over. It will be interesting to see how it evolves after he's no longer on the scene.

Is Liz Cheney still a Republican?Declan MacPherson wrote: ↑October 4, 2024, 4:02 pm

I'll see your Gabbard, and raise you Dick & Liz Cheney + Jimmy McCain (son of John).
That's ....... let's see ........... a former Republican VP + the former 3rd ranking Republican in the House + the son of a former Republican Senator and candidate for President.
But I have no doubt you can parse these as well, Declan.

Because of your admission here, you are highly unqualified to be unbiased in assessing what constitutes a true Republican.

All of these individuals backstabbed Trump and Republican voters long before they endorsed anyone against Trump and Republican voters.jackspratt wrote: ↑October 4, 2024, 4:34 pmIs Liz Cheney still a Republican?

Those aren't any great revelations. Fully expected. I expect more from the same line of backstabbers.

Re: U.S. Politics
A thinking person would wonder why all these high profile, thinking Republicans have gone the way of "backstabbing" a candidate who would normally be an easy choice for them.
What could be the common denominator?
