@Hippo :
The German Bakery is in the soi behind the Central complex, Adulyadet rd, about halfway. If you're driving north, it's on the left side and it has a German flag.
The bread is good.

(Walnut)Bread at Tops
Bob, They didn't reduce the weight of the bread in their product list, it is still supposed to be 500 grams, so they are cheating. As a quality supplier and as a place where I like to shop, I would expect Tops to be a reliable supplier, that's why I am so surprised and disappointed. @ Wilson-smith :...

That not really is the point here, is it Kjellsnell ?
We could have a discussion on the quality of the navel oranges at Tesco's, but then I'll open another thread I would think.

(Walnut)Bread at Tops
For the ones who buy walnutbread sometimes at Tops : Today I bought this bread and it looked again smaller than the last times. I asked what the weight should be and the answer was : 500 grams. I just weighed it and it is not even 400 grams for a bread of 80 baht ! I have put it in the freezer and I...

I am planning to start digging into electronics, just for fun and on a starter level. But : is there an electronics shop in Udon where I can purchase my resistors, capacitors, transistors and the like ? I don't think Amorn at Big-C is the shop for that, maye I have to go to Bkk ? Thanks for your inp...

@RJJ04 : The pic was taken recently and buffalo's are used to maintain fields where plants are growing already, like man or sugarcane. It's not an unusual sight here at all. Obviously, for plowing whole fields tractors etc are used, but even then you still see a buffalo plowing a field now and then.

Windows movie maker
Bertie, thanks for your link. Downloaded the simplest version. For somebody just wanting to collate some video's like me without spending too much time , I would say the newest Live Moviemaker is THE choice, simple, understandable, no steep learning curve, no overwhelming and confusing possibilities...

Plastic shims to level appliances
Thanks, you're very kind. In your case they are sloping and triangular, but I see/understand there are many forms and sizes. Am I right saying that in general a shim is something to fill space between two things ? I tried to translate (via Google as well) it, but alas. Sorry to hijack the thread :oo...

Plastic shims to level appliances
Out of curiosity, what is a shim ?? I looked at photo's and drawings of a shim in Googles, but it appears to be possibly anything. The idea I get it is something small that wedges between two things, be it a ring or a tringular thing. But what is it in your case ? If you don't want to educate, mai b...

Lao crossing in Kenthao
Mike, I wouldn't know, but I suppose it's a safety issue on a long bridge.
The bridge in Kentao is very short, so proabably it's not a problem there, but as I said, I don't know.

Lao crossing in Kenthao
I promised to come back here if I had some more info, so here I am for the one(s) that might be interested. I crossed, with my car, the border in Kentao from the Lao side to the Thai side without any problems. At the Lao side the border closes during lunchtime  and I wouldn't be surprised if ...

Lao crossing in Kenthao
I had hoped that the situation had changed. But if a VOA is already a problem, bringing a car over and insuring it there probably is even more of a hassle. So I will go to the Friendship bridge. Maybe I could drive back to Thai that way. But if they can't handle my return, then I have to drive a ver...

Does anyone living close know if the Lao side gives a Visa on Arrival in Kenthao (near Tali, Loei) already ?
Would be a nice change from the Friendship bridge and an interesting and new route to Xaignabouili.

Bicycle shops
Mike, thanks for all the info. I had a look at the LA shop, but their selection was pretty limited. The other two shops were way better in choice and quality. The road bike shop is more specialized in racing bikes, looked very professional. I ordered my bike from the 5 rd intersection. Peter was a v...
