Good news, arrived safe and sound, air con bus from Khon Kaen just bowled up bought a ticket THB100 and was away. Plenty of seats. Maybe of interest standard bus every 30 minutes THB75, train most in the middle of the night but one late afternoonTHB28. Happy New Year to all.

I am hoping to get a bus or train from Khon Kaen to Udon Thani on New Years Day. Will trains and buses be running that day? If yes where can I find timetables please?

To clarify, the mini-buses from Udon airport will take you to Nong Khai bridge, or anywhere IN Nong Khai (town) for 200 baht.
