Know a Western-Trained Dentist?

Most appreciated Papa G - thanks.

Don't need to visit another one who says, "Cannot fix."

Time to bite the bullet, so to speak. (You know what I'm talkin' 'bout, Bubba!)

Know a Western-Trained Dentist?

Allen - How far past the jail is Dr. Wongchan/Udom Clinic & on which side of the road coming from the roundabout? Tried finding him and failed the other day. Any other landmarks or indicators I could watch for? Pretty congested around there. On Phosri Rd., yes? I assume he has the latest equipment a...

Biggs tries to explain krengjai

I agree that krengjai is among the slipperier concepts to understand here, Mr. Parrot (to krengjai you). Many of us grapple with the subtler aspects of Thai culture for years until they gradually become absorbed, or at least come into sharper focus. Others have little interest in Thai culture, which...

Ear Syringing

I like Parrot's doc above. The good doc suggests putting in ear drops or baby oil the night before to loosen things up. He's good, and funny, too. However, I started putting the baby oil in a few times a day for half an hour when I start having problems, and after a day or so, things clear out and a...

Know a Western-Trained Dentist?

Although I've had mixed experiences at AEK, a Dr. Janejira took good care of me there. This was a few years ago, however, so not sure if she's still there.

Does anyone know how BKK Hospital dental dept. is? Think I'm gonna need a hospital next time for multiple extractions, etc.

Total lunar eclipse on October 8

Very cool site as the neighbors & I stood gawking at the "frog eating the moon."

Kinda like a toddler going, "Hey, look at my shadow! That's me/us/earth!"

Was beautiful gold color, more gold moon than blood moon, but quite a site just south of Nong Khai.

Thanks for the heads up, Bob.

Sakon Nakhon

Want to stay overnight in Sakon Nakhon next week with my family.

I think a resort-type place would be preferable to an in-town hotel, but would appreciate any recommendations anyone has.

Thanks.

No problems down Nong Khai-way, on TOT with Chrome, at least as far as UM goes.

Seems back to "normal" today, or the new normal, anyway ... working OK but a bit slower than it used to be.

Nowadays, how does one download youtube here?

The YouTube link you used Bob was to a video that is not available, so it didn't show up here.

I used the code from the first link in the post, and it works fine; i.e.: kXYiU_JCYtU&list=TLJSMJoSE6mFagjFEs4-05mAPsaus3pt8s

So that is indeed how you do it, per your instructions.

TOT terrible today: slow loading, partial loading, no connectivity off & on.

Searched Google to see what's up and found our Parrot's post from half an hour ago.

Unusual to be in this state all day. "Connection" to Bangkok situation? Dunno.

Federal Hotel,Bangkok,to close at the end of the month

Spent many months there in the early '90s, sometimes on extended stays while my accommodation was being sorted. The old gives way to the new, I suppose. The Fed's sister hotel on Soi 19, the famous Honey Hotel, will probably not be around too much longer as well. These places have real atmosphere an...

It took me a while to realize what Jack says above, but ever since I did I use a Bookmark to

http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/s ... d=newposts to go to the forum and pick up where I left off last time.

You might give that a try.

His other point also makes a lot of sense.

Next US Embassy Visit for Udon?

Yes sure they always take care of everyone.

They were wrapping up just before noon.

About 28 people/hour, or roughly 2 minutes/person - not bad, all things considered.

Next US Embassy Visit for Udon?

I was second from last, officially #72, but he told me to add 40 from the rogue sheet, so that's 113. He also said Udon had about the most expats using their services, with Samui the least the time they went there. Phuket and Pattaya (yes) also have a ton of users, with Ubon trailing sleepily behind...

Next US Embassy Visit for Udon?

Agree with that. Need 2 stamps to say I am who I am tomorrow: $100.

Love that they come here to Udon, but they used to provide more in the line of "services," not simply sales.

Still ... could be worse, and is for most non-US expats, for sure, as you note.
