Re: Folding Bike!

Several bicycle shops in town , on all priceranges . Otherwise the alternative are shops like Tesco and Macro which have a few bikes also . Like always , you get what you pay for , a 2000 baht bicycle won't be the lightest and also won't be the longest living . I do not say to buy the most expensive...

Solar energy Incentive

Yes , the NOCT value is the "real" value . I have looked up some while ago the ideal angle for Udon Thani for solar panels , and the differences at "normal" angles are not bigger then 10/15% of max output . The bigger your system the more this is off course . Cooling your panels will bring more as t...

Solar energy Incentive

I finally made the trip to Udon Thani on Friday. I went to Amorn on Saturday to buy another cheap 280 watt poly solar panel. Surprise, surprise, no have. They have been replaced with 275 watt panels and there were not too many of them. There was a big stack of the expensive 310 watt mono panels. Th...

Gas Hot Water Heater

It has 2 D-cell ( or was it a smaller type ? ) inside . There is no electric wire going inside or out . When the water heater notices flow , it automatic fires up , using it's batteries inside , and switches of automatic also . There is no small flame when it is not in use . They recommend changing ...

Gas Hot Water Heater

Thanks again for all the feedback. Having seen one in action in Phurua, I'd feel as comfortable using one (that's been properly installed) as I would an electric one. The big plus for me: instant hot, consistent temperature, and no waste when it's not in use. My gas heater , instant hot , very cons...

Gas Hot Water Heater

I think i have that type . It is rated about 10kw and works like a breeze . I have it for i think about 9months and bought it in Globalhouse for less then 5000 baht if i remeber correct . You do need to ask as they do not have them on stand ( just ask for gas water heater and they pull out the box ) .

made to order shower ?

Multiple options are possible but it needs to be plain glass and not glass blocks .
The design itself is easy , rectangle 120 by 140 cm and a door in the 140 area ( at the corner ) , frameless is prefered .
Other option is not put a door in , so 1 glass being 70 wide and 1 glass being 120 wide .

made to order shower ?

Well , technically speaking you are right . I do not need to cut it . I need to order it in my size wanted . How they do it is not my concern . A glass shop got it's glass from a factory and that factory makes hardened/tempered glass . Only thing they need to do is cut it down to size and send it ba...

made to order shower ?

There is a chap who does this about 40km outside Udon and for a third of the prices you see asked in Homepro and the like. Take the road from Big C towards Sakon Nahon. At the village of Non Meg turn left at the traffic lights towards Ban Dung. Approx 100 yards from the lights, on the left (just af...

made to order shower ?

Hi , I'm building a house in the Udon area and i'm going closer and closer to the finish line . I am now looking for hardened ( safety ) glass cut to spec or a shower made to spec ( glass of course) . The standard models available at the known stores are not my cup of tea . The design itself is not ...

Re: Wood questions

Clear varnish or even oil looks always better then paint . However , if your wood isn't a nice one , you have to use paint to make it look decent . The weight of the door only tells you it is wood but not if it is decent dried wood . Wet wood in general is a lot havier then dry wood. Wet wood will d...

Re: Wood questions

Making it complicated ... Well , outside doors ( i mean frames with glass ) need to be made to order . Glass , no problem . Wood no problem as long as it is mai yang ( rubberwood ) which is basically termitefood . Then we have mai takian , which is not bad wood but since it hosts a ghost it is a non...

The problem i have is that i want mai daeng ( xylia xylocarpa/pyinkado ... ) and i would prefer recycled wood as it does not warp , bent , shrink etc . Now , where do i find recycled wood ?
