Re: LIST OF REFERENCES; CONTRACTORS
Hi Peter Sorry, I haven't been active lately and have only seen your post just now. No, I didn't find a reliable builder - I decided to build it myself. I sacked the crew who were building the wall, keeping just one as my foreman. He was a great choice - reliable and covers all trades except electri...

Re: Facebook Adds?
One good thing about FB is that you can have an unlimited number of accounts. Just get a fresh email address and start again. Keep your old email address for what you have always done, and just use the new one for a new FB account.

Agreed glalt. I made a mistake in my earlier post where I said it screws on. In fact, as you said, it just sits on top of the bottle, so there is no issue there. Charges via a USB cable, and battery life is ... well, have had it for two months now and never had to recharge it

Re: Buying a TCL TV?
The school where I work installed TVs in every classroom (maybe 40") in every classroom (around 140 of them) about two years ago. There have been no issues in high school, and have not heard of any in primary or KG. They are all LGs. So when I wanted a 75" screen to watch football, and Do Home had t...

Re: Steel gates
I'm about to build mine. The opening is 3.5 metres and it will be 2.5m high. My idea is for it to be light weight - not heavy enough to cause injury, and easy to slide. A third set of rollers will make it easier still.

Re: RT-PCR Testing In Udorn?
Don't know Tam. I don't anticipate going overseas any time soon (or later). This is to fulfill a Ministry of Health requirement to get me thru the school gate. I am now teaching onsite one week and online alternate weeks from home - same schedule for my students. Procedure is that we self-test (with...

A few more pics to keep rolling along. A view of the kitchen looking from the elevated lounge room entrance. 20211106_224300.jpg The garage door has gone up and this project is nearing completion except for the concrete work, a couple of planks across the top of the door and some guttering. The remo...

Re: Water cooler
You have probably solved your problem by now Tam, but I'll throw in my two bobs worth anyhow for the benefit of later readers. I have gone down the track recommended by KP with two fridges. Our place is a split level design and the food fridge (OK, a little bit of water too) is downstairs in the Wes...

Re: Electric garage door
Made a few adjustments along the way. The width, that a couple of you have commented as being very wide, has been made wider still to 3.6 m, and the opening height reduced to 2.1 metres. The lower height still easily accomodates the carry frame I have on my pickup. The wide openinng is by necessity ...

This thread has been dormant for quite a while, but.. I teach in a very large private school in BKK (normally, been doing it online from home in Udon for more than six months now) but that's all about to change. Our high school students have all been vaccinated, as have I, and senior high school (gr...

Re: Thailand's Dismal Rice Yield
20211031_125708.jpg Our neighbour is going to have a bumper crop this year - no wonder given all the rain we have had. There are a few patches where the heavy overnight downpour we had a few days ago washed the rice over, but the grain is mature enough that it will still be good when hand harvested...

"Thai news, along with the news of many other countries in the world (and Udon Map forum), is a mixture of fact, opinion, fantasy and scaremongering. Re: Inter Province travel
After travelling from our village in Ban Phue district to BKK yesterday, I can confirm DM's comments about road conditions etc. However, the route we took just south of KK to Korat found us being diverted because of some deep water flooding - see: https://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/viewtopic.php...

Re: Kut ling ngaw Reservoir Dry?
I rather doubt that any reservoir in the area is dry now after the widespread rainfall we had a couple of weeks ago. My newly completed 23,000 litre rainwater storage facility at home is overflowing. There was severe flooding in Chaiyaphum and to the south of Khon Kaen. On our drive from Udon to BKK...

Our (BKK) students finished online exams on Tuesday (5 Oct) and started their end of semester holiday immediately. They received their first Pfizer jabs over the next two days at a local private hospital. On Thursday teachers were told that the five month work-from-home gig was over, and to report f...

Re: John's budget build
The indoor garden and water feature are nearly complete and I have moved onto another major outdoor project. On the left of the house proper is a skillion roof housing a garage, tool cage/workshop, laundry and outside toilet. My original intention was to put a motorised roller door on the front of t...
