Re: Anywhere in udon do Muay thai/ martial arts
The Muay Thai boxing ring is open from about 5pm-7pm (thai time!) monday- friday and the trainer is called Mr Duan. If you have some martial arts experience you can use the punch bags and other equipment for free. If you need some basic training then you might have to make a personal arrangment with...

Re: Champions League Football
UBC are not showing the group stage games but this might change when the knock out stages kick in next year. You can however watch CL games on Thai TV, CH 3 and CH 7 (I think), with one channel with English commentry while the other has a Thai commentator. Thai TV tends to concentrate on the Big 3 i...

Re: day train
For me, one advantage of getting the overnight train is the restaurant carriage where you can sit and enjoy a beer or 2(ish) before retiring to your bunk. I would suggest getting to the restaurant carriage asap as it tends to fill up quickly and usually shuts around midnight. Also if you book 1st cl...

Re: English gent caught with too many Cig's at Nong Khai border
Just a quick word of warning, I understand that the BIB have started searching passengers on the NK to BKK trains
looking for any contraband their colleagues at the border might have missed.

Re: Thai versus farang Education systems
Dunno bout Thai and Farlang edukashun systems but I believe there is a big disparity between the Bangkok and Issan levels of schooling. A friends 7 year old daughter has just returned from a year or two in a Bangkok school. The girl is a country mile ahead of her classmates. But hey! its ok, you do...

Marmite, thanks for the surprisingly articulate and informative response. I tend to agree with alot of what you say but please desist from branding Chelsea supporters scum. I dont want to prove you right.

Re: Rugby Union
Yes, arguably the Colonials take their Rugby more seriously than people in Blighty, maybe I should emigrate. Indeed. It seems that poofball is the opium of the masses in Blighty. Luckily, there are still many of us who realise that rugby is bestest. So your a rugger man eh marmite? rather than a "p...

Just heard on the beeb that she has just been sectioned. Maybe the organisers knew she was a wobbleytop and relegated her to 2nd place to avoid any bad publicity in the event susan losing the plot.

Re: Chelsea ref smuggled out of the UK
Be warned fellow formites, The Sports Bar has been known to be frequented by known Chelsea scumbags. One in paricular can be especially foul mouthed and foul tempered and appears to have a MA in Twattery. In my experience he can be easily placated by humouring him and buying him a leo. COME ON YOU B...

Re: Chelsea ref smuggled out of the UK
A Brit friend told me about a bar in Pattaya that caters only to Chelsea supporters. The place is named "Dog's Bollocks" and ALL non-Chelsea supporters or even non-footy fans (and their teeraks) are thrown out of the place bodily for no other reason than not following the bar's preferred team. The ...

Re: UEFA Champions League 2008-09
Seemed to me that Utd treated the final like a home premiership game against WBA (no offence Baggies!) Didn't Fergie look at the Chelsea v Barca games? Chelsea defended deep, didn't allow Barca space in the final third and were very close to knocking them out. If Utd had adopted the same approach I'...

I was working in T1 Heathrow installing new road lights on the apron (runway area) when we got the message about a plane crash in NY. We made our way the the departure lounge where people were standing around starring at the TV monitors in a stunned silence. It seemed like the whole place had come t...
