Re: Back Problems
Arjay, which pharmacy sells Celebrex for 240 baht strip? The best I've found is 300 baht at the pharmacy on the corner across from talat Ban Hoy and the one south of the market between Ngee Soon and Srisuk.

I don't think they do email. There's no email address listed on the business card or the bill, just the street address and phone number.

Re: Transformer for hard drive recorder.
Check the specs for the input voltage on your recorder. You may not need a transformer. A lot of small devices, especially if they use an inline power "brick", now have voltage agile power supplies and can take a range from 100 to 240 volts.

Re: Dentist Updates???
My wife just got a quote from Dr. Wattra, the dentist across from the bus station, for a root canal and 50% gold crown on a rear molar. The root canal was 6K and the crown was 8.5K. But it varies considerably by dentist and the material you choose for the crown.

Should I use a BUPA agent in Udon?
Looking over the health insurance threads I notice that several members have policies with BUPA. Some use a local agent and some out of town agents. I'm still with my original agent in Pattaya. It's easy using him since he speaks English and knows what farangs expect. I haven't had any claims since ...

Re: Hi-Fibre drink
Mucillin is a high fiber drink mix that's readily available in most pharmacies. It comes in 2 or 3 sizes of jars and boxes of single sachet doses. A 400 gr jar will run in the neighborhood of 200 baht. Not sure about the price of the sachets.

ATM skimming
There's kind of a scary video about just how ATM skimming works here. It was recovered by the police when they caught some ATM skimmers in the UK. I usually cover my hand when I enter my PIN but I will do it for sure from now on.

Re: Retirement Visa.
I did my retirement extension a couple of weeks ago and wasn't asked for a map. I did, however, have a yellow book. If it's an actual new requirement then it's either very recent or a yellow book will also met the requirements.

Re: elec power
I think the price you got is probably not inclusive. They probably won't give you a real price until they come out and look at your property and see where the transformer will actually be. At least that's what happened to me. My wife talked to PEA and got the price of the transformer. But then when ...

Re: Builder's Level/Optical Level
LL, I've been using the "water level" for grading around the house but now I need to do some runs of 150 meters or so. 75 meters middle to end is a bit long for doing it that way. JimboLV, no that price doesn't include everything. That's the price I found here on the web for just the unit itself tha...

Re: Builder's Level/Optical Level
Yeah, I've checked the usual suspects but haven't tried to see if they could order anything. I ordered some doors from Global once and what came in were doors that were too warped to sell at whichever branch had sent them. Thought I'd see if there was something somewhere else first.

Builder's Level/Optical Level
Our farmland has a slope to it and I want to shoot some elevations to work out the grading and drainage. I need a basic builder's level or optical level. Something like this: builders level.jpg Or maybe this: optical level.jpg The only ones I've found so far are at ToolPro. The cheapest one they hav...

Re: 5 Year D.licence renewls.. latest
When I went to the purple palace last year to renew my 5 year license you could get out of watching the half hour or so Thai language video by telling them that you didn't speak Thai. They would instead give you an English language booklet that you could scan in a couple of minutes.

Mr. Smith goes to the doctor’s office for his wife’s test results. The lab tech told him, “I’m sorry sir, but there has been a mix-up. When we sent the sample from your wife to the lab, a sample from another Mrs. Smith was also sent, and now we’re uncertain which one is your wife’s. Frankly, the new...

Go in a couple of weeks early while it's still 2010?
Probably ought to drop by and ask them. Maybe before the ACS visits in October - if they come in October this year.

The transfer fee for land is 2% unless it's been held for less than 5 years, in which case there's another 3.3% added. Here's a link to the land office page with the transfer costs. It's in Thai but Google Translate does a reasonable job of translating it to English. Your wife can probably do a bett...

My visa extension date is in July so I wasn't sure if Immigration would accept a letter from February and passed on the opportunity.... I'm in the same boat except that my extension date is Sept. So when ACS came in Feb. I went by and asked immigration if they'd accept a letter dated in Feb. when I...

Re: Air Conditioner Sizing
It will depend on whether you have any insulation in your walls or on your ceiling. I have a corner room that's a little over 5m x 5m that gets full sun in the late afternoon and a 9,000 BTU works fine. But, I have well insulated walls and fiberglass on top of the ceiling. If you have the standard T...

Ngee Soon supermarket, at least the one on Nong Bua Lamphu Road, has 1-2-Call cards. And at a discount. The 300 baht cards are 295 baht.
