Love the Thai food, but these too places c...

Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
I remember Andy from the City Lodge when I stayed there a few years, great chap and FANTASTIC chef, he made the place, stayed there again once after he'd left and that was the last time. Think the only thing that bettered he's cooking for him was his golf!

Re: VIP BUS FROM MO CHIT
If you get to the bus station and the Chantour "First Class" bus is available then that would be the one I would use, we got Chantour VIP from BKK to Udon about 500baht and it was good, but the return from Udon, we waited until 9pm for the 1st Class just over 500baht and it was similar to business c...

Re: Taking your shoes off!
Here in the UK you'd have the same problem with a Council run establishment, go in there of a lunch time even when it's with your work boots, fish and chips and coke that you've bought from their canteen and they'll throw you out! Last time I use the swimming baths here i'll tell you!

Rick, Same as what I have experienced. Trying to find the information on the web is extremely difficult www.chantour.com seems about 3 years out of date and apart from just turning up and trying pot luck, the last time I did this got normal bus from Bangkok to Ban Phu and had accident between NongBu...

My wife uses www.thaitv.tv, it is a subscription service, but works out fairly cheap and is good quality with lots of choice, she can spend hours at a time watching it ![Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

Re: AEK Udon Apartments
I stayed in the apartments about 3 years ago and booked one at £90 for the month, while making use of the hospital testing facilities, they didn't have tea/coffee facilities (but this was not noticed at the time), but had big screen TV, shower room , massive bed, fridge with chilled water dispenser...

I went there a couple of years ago, quiet temple and "interesting" statues, lots of ants too. It is about 15 minutes from Ban Phu so allow about 1 hour 15 minutes from Udon. It is down some country roads with a couple of sharp bends off from the main road. You may need to stop and ask for directions...

AEK every time for me, give them a visit. Another option could be to return to your country of birth if not Thailand and you have enough time.
