The next Thai Language course is starting on 8th August. We have TWO class times available: 11.30-1.30 & 2.00 - 4.00pm (both for beginners). We don't have enough people for the Intermediate course yet. However, the beginners course is aimed at people who are not total beginners anyway. As Ray will tell you, it helps a lot if you have some Thai already.

Having four hours of clas time left I would really recommend this course for people really wanting to learn Thai beyond being a tourist. Don't fool yourself and think your going to be speaking Thai at anything near a reasonable level in six weeks, not going to happen, the course is designed in mdoules so you can pretty much jump in at anytime.
Thia is not an easy language to learn but your native language wasn't either and you didn't learn it in six weeks. If you really want to enjoy Thailand beyond waitng for those conversations between yourself and your fellow countrymen being tied to the complex area all the time.
If it's OK not to understand what is going on around you depending on your wife or girlfriend and hoping they are telling you the correct information. If it's ok not understanding the conversation between your girl and her friends, then don't take the course.
If you don't mind being led around like a child to find places, then by all means don't bother it's work.
But if you want to get beyond that lifestyle you need to speak the language.
As many of you remeber I supported a Thia language class here, there was only one reason no place for group classes. This is an excellent class enviornment, but it's a buusiness if it doesn't get the community support it won't be around long and we will be back to sqauare one so if you have an interest I strongly recommend you support this effort.
Darn Nick probably won't give me anyhting off for this either

Dear all
We have decided that we are going to have 2 courses of Thai as follows:
11.30-1.30, T-F - Semi Intermediate, &
2.00 - 4.00, T-F - Beginners
11.30-1.30 will be for Thai learners who have some experience of Thai (including the existing students), and will start book 2 together. If you are an absolute beginner this course is not for you. It is 'semi-intermediate', with some review of the basics for new students.
2.00-4.00 will be for Thai learners who have only a little or no Thai. If you have some 'basic' Thai, this will help you too. You will start at book 1.
For those of you out there who are pretty good at Thai already (i.e.Intermediate), we don't have enough people yet. If you would like to join the Semi Intermediate class to help with pronunciation etc. you're welcome too.
Please note:The courses start on 8th August.
Max no. per class=14
Many thanks for your support.

Thanks Ray
I am relying on you to keep this thread running.
I am thinking about reducing the length of each class from 2 hours a day to 1.5 hrs per day. This way we can reduce the price down to 3000 baht for the 36 hour/ 6 week course.
Please can anyone interested in studying Thai next term, let me know which you prefer: 2hrs/6 wks/3900฿ or 1.5hrs/6 wks/3000฿?
Thanks again.

We will make the classes thus:
12.00-1.30 Semi Intermediate/Book 2
2.00-3.30 Beginners/Book 1
This would mean the course(s) would be 6 hrs per week/6 weeks = 36 hours.
That makes it just over 80 baht per hour - which I think is pretty reasonable.
Again, if you have any questions, email, pm or call me.
Cheers
