I don't attend the meetings. One of the reasons is what you mention; the location isn't conducive to conversation and getting to know other people. It's oppressively noisy and much too hot much of the year.

Hey Guys... I'm back after a years hiatus. Do you still hold the Night Market Meetings? If so, will it be this Sat., 3 July, in the usual place? Hope so and hope to see you all there. \:D/

Agree with Malc and UdonExpat, and I'll add my two cents here.
First off, Saturday night is the busiest night of the week.
Second, it's held the first Saturday of the month. When all the Thais just got paid. Making it probably the busiest Saturday of the month.
Point being, the majority of people who attend these meetings are retired. When you are retired, any night can be Saturday night. So, why Saturday night?

Welcome back Pakawala!

Pakawala. Nice to know your back. I think re: the Preecha market meetings. I don't attend any of the get together any more but speaking as an individual. I think you will find the big screen location unbearably noisy . It isn't possible to get away from the speakers as they are located everywhere throughout the market, even as far down as the 7/11 store . It is actually impossible to have any sort of conversation. My wife and I tried it this last Saturday and actually walked out after finishing the first beer. The proprietor of the beer garden section was simply unfazed by comments as to why we were departing so quickly . We then went across to the UD center, it was buzzing and difficult to find a table. They are still imposing a Chang beer monopoly, but the stall holders have rebelled about charging corkage for whisky as they were losing too much business. So I enjoyed watching the football, drinking my Glenmorangie, while my wife and kid had the food they liked then did the shopping thing all women love .As a plus. It seems the eye candy have decided its the place to be seen and boy , I do mean seen. My wife was disgusted and of course , so was I .
For info . It appears a top Korean pop idol is doing a concert there next Saturday , the 10th. That should bring the fans out . :-"
Ageing is a privilige denied to many .

It was a pleasant evening at the Bookhouse.Nice to see Pakawala,Ralph,747man,LA.Mr.Clean,Thaimac,Farmer and the gals, had early dinner(lamb chops) in the nice A/C room and we sat in the courtyard chatting away!

Did miss the eye candy at the NM though, just can't understand the management thinking as I went by after the meeting to check on getting some DVDs(none selling),the market was not doing much business, but it looked like the UD center was packed as we drove by!

Oh well,everthing changes

Glad everyone had a good time. Sorry I missed it. I will be back in town on July 11th through July 30th and wanted to know if you all were interested in another meeting while I'm in town. The beers will be on me.

Cheers, Dave
