The coldest it's been during the 14 years we've been here was 10-16 Jan 2009. Morning lows during those 7 days:
46, 47, 48, 48, 48, 48, 48. At least daytime highs were in the low low 70's, but nights were bitter cold (for Udon!).

That's funny to here about how cold it is in Thailand. Wife says she isn't sure if she will be able to take the heat when we get there, she has turned into an eskimo and loves icefishing when it is -17C.

This is by far the coolest March in 14 years we've been here. Typically, there will be a handful of days, mostly in the first half of the month, with mornings in the 60's. Very rare to have a morning low in March in the 50's after the first week or so of the month.
This March, we've had 20 morning lows below 70, and 3 of those in the 50's. The 50's were all after the 15th of the month.

It's not uncommon to record 100 or 100+ in March....We've had 7 days this month with highs in the 90's and only one of those was 95. The rest were low 90's.

Too bad it's not like this every year in March!!

If its warm they put ice in the buckets. More colder water more fun for them!

In 2006 it rained the first two days of Songkran with temps in the mid 80's. There was hardly any water fights in my neighborhood. On the last day, no rain, but again temps were well below 90, and there was only subdued water fights.

That's right. That was my first year in Udon and I remember it raining for 2 days.

I reckon this must be one of the coldest March's on record.

Talking to my Thai neighbours last night, they all say the same, the coldest March in living memory.
Lots of terracotta cooking buckets being used as outside heaters.
