(Walnut)Bread at Tops

Post by Peterplay » September 10, 2012, 6:25 pm

For the ones who buy walnutbread sometimes at Tops :

Today I bought this bread and it looked again smaller than the last times. I asked what the weight should be and the answer was : 500 grams.

I just weighed it and it is not even 400 grams for a bread of 80 baht !

I have put it in the freezer and I will go back later this week, I don't live close.

I feel really pissed off by this and I wonder if I get my money back or another bread. I am sure they don't care a s***.

Two weeks ago they sold me two loafs that when I cut them at home obviously were left over from the day before. I had specifically asked them if they were freshly baked.

So, be aware !

One little problem : they are as far as I know the only ones that sell this bread. Tops in KK doesn't have it.

That not really is the point here, is it Kjellsnell ?

We could have a discussion on the quality of the navel oranges at Tesco's, but then I'll open another thread I would think.

It is rather a pity if Tops have reduced the weight of the walnut loaf.
Some of the specialty breads that they sell are pretty expensive, coming in at up to 130 baht for a small loaf.
When fresh they are rather tasty & probably just about worth the money.
For stale bread that is certainly no longer the case & I will be more careful in the future..

So I, for one, am grateful for your post Peterplay.

Bob, They didn't reduce the weight of the bread in their product list, it is still supposed to be 500 grams, so they are cheating.

As a quality supplier and as a place where I like to shop, I would expect Tops to be a reliable supplier, that's why I am so surprised and disappointed.

@ Wilson-smith : There is no trouble involved whatsoever other than taking the bread back to a place where I would go anyway. And why wouldn't I say anything ?

I realize it's not the end of the world and 16 baht is not really important, it's just the fact that I can't trust one of my preferred suppliers.

@Knellsnell : your answers are too intelligent hence I don't understand them

@Hippo :

The German Bakery is in the soi behind the Central complex, Adulyadet rd, about halfway. If you're driving north, it's on the left side and it has a German flag.

The bread is good.
