Meeting Feedback

For the information of those people interested.
I have no interest whatsoever in conversing with people who spend their life stroking their egos and thinking up inane comments about others.Anyone who wishes to talk to me face to face,I will always make myself available, including Mr Truebrit as an exception .

For those who are interested,we had a very successful meeting yesterday afternoon at the government administration building.
The meeting was chaired by Mr Boonpracong who, despite the knowlegable comments on here,is in fact the International Advisor to the Prime minister and works from that office .Mr Truebrit you keep telling everyone who will listen of how well informed and connected you are,I do not believe I ever said he was a Minister as the word I used was official.Perhaps using you vast knowledge and connections you would already know this.
The meeting was attended by prominent Thai officials from both Udon Thani and other provinces. Our comments and ideas were well received and a feeling of determined willingness to address our problems was felt by all present.
As a result of this meeting, which, for those who do not remember, was a simple question to a simple answer, those involved are now in dialogue with the highest officials from this province and direct with the Prime ministers office.
We now have a different position and those who support change, will work to acheive a set of aims in order to make that possible, for those who are only interested in stroking their own egos please do not get involved as their will be no place for you to be involved.I would only like you to enjoy any changes that your fellow expats attain,or perhaps you, will abstain from making use of any benefits acheived.
The subjects of visas, residency, land ownership, tourist police volunteers and others were discussed and using this as a base I will try to form active teams to address various subjects for submission and consideration, however at this time, I will spend a few days disseminating the discussions and information already put forward and make a plan for progress.

To those who make presumptions,
The informal buffet and gathering which took place last night was attended by many high officials from this and other provinces and also officials from the Prime Ministers office, the venue was chosen by them as they wished to make themselves available to as many people who wished to talk with them.In my opinion it was a great success and the feedback which many of us received was very positive.
To those who wish to turn this into a political issue ,let me make this loud and clear. This is for our benefit and the only politics involved are in dealing with this government who have been overwhelmingly chosen by the people of Thailand,if anyone cannot accept that fact and work with it then perhaps its time to change your place of abode and find a political system where you are more at ease.I personally have watched closely the changes that have been going on in the first year and am happy that change for the better is ongoing.
I will not go into discussion on this or any other forum about the efforts ongoing but from time to time will report information on progress.

Dear Mr Coull

I don't mean to offend you because I don't know who you are, how long you've been here nor what your position is in this community. However, if I were you I would tone down your comments a bit especially those contained in the second to last paragraph beginning with "To those who wish..." as they come across as somewhat "holier than thou". Most people don't take too kindly to veiled threats especially from people they don't know. From the tone of your posting I would suspect the only egos being stroked were those present at this meeting.
Unfortunately, your posting has very little substance to it. In other words there are no specifics contained in it but lots of generalities which say absolutely nothing. H. Ross Perot once said "talk is cheap, words are plentiful, deeds are precious". I think the quote fits in here quite nicely.

Mr Coull I have a request that I forgot to mention before, that might fall into your realm. It has got to do with procedures when farang die in Thailand. I was involved in a certain Chiangmai hotel case in 2010 where a number of farang from different nations regrettably died. The outcome of that case was that certain recommendations were put forward to the Thai Authorites as to how they should conduct and handle future farang deaths..An International entity has asked me if I could find out whether those recommendations have actually been put in place, and are up and running. If there is any way you can raise the issue with your opposites, I would be grateful..Thanks for your efforts

Hopefully this will be the start of the beginning of reasonableness towards Foreign concerns about living here. Only time will tell .
One should always remember that communication is the key here, soundbites although good need to be backed up with concrete explanations which we can understand . Thankyou for your assistance mr coull lets us hope it will continue despite us foreigners being a tad sceptical.

Maaka,
I also have been involved in an expats death which has turned into a long running and expensive case both here and Chiang Mai.Although there are already proceedures in place they are hard to find and adhere to.
Could you please email me at tom.coull@yahoo.com with as many details of the recommendations and source that you can and I will follow it up in the very near future.
Best regards.
tom
