Coming for Christmas.....

Post by ergman » October 27, 2006, 8:04 am

Hey Gang.....

First let me say the site seems really cool....

Have been to Udon Thani 2 years ago. I only got to spend 3 days there and that was not enough. Everyone who I met was really nice (maybe they're not friends with ya'll here on this site but they were nice to me at the time.....Thunder at his bar, Max had just gotten a motercycle and crashed it and broke his leg, Steve had heart problems and went in the hospital).

Anyways am going back to Thailand for the hundred and something time and I remember how comfortable I felt when I visited there last time and would like to go again. It's ya'lls territory and I don't want to intrude....

Actually I'm going thru divorce #2 from a Thai girl.....first wife was a complete butterfly.....this one is the nicest girl I met I just spent too much time at work and not enough with her....can you imagine that??!!

So I have a month off and I would like to come back up your way....would like a friend.....please find it in your heart to write back and I promise you you will meet one of the kindest people you ever met before. I just need someone to talk too right now. Sorry, I just need a little help....

Hi ergman, welcome to the forum.

Why don't you drop in to one of the monthly meetings when you're over and say hi to a few of the members.

Have a safe journey over to Udon.

Hey Ergman,
Nice to meet you.
The fact that you want to come back to Thailand after going through divorce No2 shows that you love this country and his people.
This also helps me to think that I also made the right decision by moving to this country, although I also had some "problems".
So I think Lee is right by inviting you to the meeting.
It always helps when you can let go some steam and pressure after a period of stress.
In any case hope to see you soon here in Thailand and don't forget:

Hi everyone again and thank you so much for the warm welcome. Am suppossed to go to the Thai Embassy tomorrow to get the divorce done. (I'm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia by the way). I won't bombard everyone with a bunch of questions right now and I'll read as much as I can here on the site. The only immediate question is where do you recommend staying? I stayed at the Chaeron (sp?) last time and thought it was nice. I might be there for 3 or 4 weeks...Anyways I look forward to meeting everyone....

Add one more to the party, I'm coming back in 2 days, for at least 6 months. This will be my first christmas in Udon, and I'm really forward to spending the time in a place that has more than a couple of hours daylight at this time of year.

Sorry, perhaps I should introduce myself. First post and all that. My name is Paul, and I've been a recovering UK resident for 37 years until March this year when I first came to Udon. I'm not sure if I've met any of you guys. I know Wilson_Smith as he's my neighbour, but not sure about anyone else. I'm usually found hanging out at Fuzzy Kens, Steve's or Sabai Sabai.

6 months? - you won't be able to do it on a toursist visa anymore. Are you planning to get a retirement visa, marriage visa, business visa or maybe even a study visa  ?

Anyway, welcome to Udon - whatever your purpose

I have a 1 year non immigrant 'O' visa, and was planning to do the visa run after 90 days. Will that be an issue?

I'm planning to be at candy corner for the next meet (or Dieters, if that's where it ends up), which I think is less than a week away(?)

Depends on what your budget is.

Irish Clock has nice rooms - believe that they run about 850 a night.

Silver Reef also has nice rooms - but you might need sunglasses for those rooms. They are, shall we say, very bright and colorful.

Send a PM to Lee - I am sure that he can find you a place and make the reservations for you.
