Farangs in Kumpawapai?

Post by mo1medic » February 28, 2007, 2:02 pm

I am Fixin to (texas word) come to Kumpawapi in April with my TW. I have only visited there for a week at a time but this time will be there for an extended time between jobs, maybe 2 months. #-o are there many farings in that area or am I just doomed to listen to family all talkin Thai and looking at me and smilling all day? I love it in LOS but don't know how long I can survive without outside conversation. I love this site and have learned a great deal from all of you
Thanks
Mike

I don't live there myself but my friend has a little internet shop directly across from the Monkey Park, a couple of doors down from the only bar. His name is John and you will find Kumpawapee based falang drifting in and out of his premises much of the time.
Hope this helps to save your sanity

Oh nearly forgot, there is also the KP Hotel, only one in Kumpa, where you may also find some local farang lounging by the pool in the daytime and the little Apple Pub next to it at night but that it is generally only used by guests of the hotel so it really depends on who's staying there at the time.
Go see John, really nice guy and knows most of the local farang.

I visit my other half in Kumphawapi three times per year. I also enjoy the KP hotel. I seem to be the only farang around in the small village of Songpleay near Kumphawapi. I met an Englishman living with his girlfirend one day but that is all.
I'm arriving on April 2 and am looking forward to it. Is it true that during Songkran Festival it is the hottest time of the year? I usually visit when it is cooler

I recall reading a post on here that this summer is due to be a record breaker. Likely to be 40+ from mid march to the end of april with very little rain but I can't for the life of me find it :freak:
No need to worry about the heat over the three Songkran days though, you will be soaked from the moment you leave your room to the moment you get back and boy that ice water is a killer

Seems there will be some falangs in Kumpawapi in april :D
I will also go there in april. My girlfriend lives in a small village just outside town. I have been there last year the first time. Saw the longboat races, I think it is a nice town, and look foreward to go there again. I think I will stay in KP hotel again, or go travel a bit.
Maybe I will meet some of you guys.

Great! We are opening a new market in the village of Songpleay. We are having a huge party with Issan dancing and music on Friday 4/13/07 ...Maybe you can stop by for a beer? The market is just before the entrance to the village on your left. Scott in Arizona (Can't wait to get back to Thailand)
