Recommendations for somewhere to stay in Rayong
Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to stay in Rayong, by the beach, or if I dont get that far in Pattaya? I realise they are not the same!

Thanks for the advice, Paul, Loaded and Tenbyboy. I will rule out Rayong then.
I have stayed at the Flipper Lodge before, Soi 8, as you say it is very well located for nightlife/bars. I will have partner with me this time, so I think I will aim at Soi 13 and the Innhouse Hotel, have stayed there before and its nearer to shops and walking street etc..
The flights to Bangkok are booked already, so think it will have to be a mix of Pattaya and Bangkok. Though upon further refelection Kanchanaburi would be a nice alternative, albeit in the other direction.
Thanks

Kanchanaburi. Yes a beautiful province. Lived there for 7 years before discovering Udon. Evening meals on a floating restaurant, nice genuine massage parlour. National parks and waterfalls, if you don't mind paying 200bht each to get in(Thais 20bht)
Next weekend is especially poignant for me 11th of 11th at11am rememberance day service , held in the main war cemetry on Sang Sheuto Rd.Normally , ambassadors from Uk, Aus and Nz in attendance. After a brief wreath laying ceremony a buffet and beers are available.
Let us not forget the young men who lost their lives so we might be free and able to live here.
If you can get up early enough, a ceremony is held on the old train tracks in Hell Fire Pass just as the sun rises, a very moving experience, take some tissues.
