Hi everyone. I have a brother that very recently moved to Udon Thani, from another part of Thailand, and as usual I googled to find out something about the city. Hopefully I'll visit him some time. I'm an Aussie living in Melbourne. My bro will tell me stuff, but he's not online yet - and also we're very different from each other so I won't get the info I'd like to have. So here I am, trying to get a feel for the place.
One of the first things that came up in my google was the Aussie Pub and I wondered was there a large non-Thai population in Udon Thani? And also, if the non-Thai people had to choose only one thing that keeps them there, what would it be?

Hi Villelle, Welcome to the forum.
1. I heard via the grapevine that there are over 3,000 non-Thai's living in Udon Thani province. I can't say for sure if this is true but I bet it's not far off.
2. I was going to say the cute Thai girls too but I thought I'd better change it to cheap living, well maybe cute girls 1, cheap living 2 LOL!

Villelle there are certainly way more farang in Udon than here in Nong Khai.Just walking around town for a few minutes and you will see many.It is very popular with our American friends as they had a huge base in Udon during the Vietnam war.
