Need new heading - "Village Happening's"

Post by Dakoda » August 18, 2005, 4:14 pm

Guess we need a new subject heading? :?:

"Happening's in Romyen 3"

Today TG requested of house owner to have women with food cart removed from next to front gate. So women moved across the street. TG is worried about smoke from cooking chicken & fish!

Guess I will need to find new place to get my lunch! Guess I will be responsible for this, "No more sticky rice for you"!

It's not just the smell from the carts, but the mess that can attrack rats and the local soi dogs. Here the stench around the bins were the food carts through their waste is terrible.

Fire in the Village

Post by Dakoda » September 2, 2005, 11:41 am

While sitting here fighting with a CAD/CAM program (thinking "happy I don't do this for a living") :? TG comes and gets me, need to come and look, ok, is a big snake, a larger snail, or what. She say's look, I say what? Wait! See! Puffs of smoke are coming out of my neighbor's kitchen window, (remember the neighbor with all the dogs, that is never home)!

I say "do you have their number", No - well, what do you do in Thailand when you see a fire, I don't know - hmm, well go over to the other neighbor's house, I say pointing, he is home......

She got the lady from small store instead, and then they got the retired air force guy down the soi, who just won some kind of village election.

We all look, dogs bark, police came, dogs bark, rescue truck comes, dogs bark, one has a video camera, I think dam I should have filmed this, but too late now.

Guess the neighbor left something cooking on the stove, fire people reached thru window with long pole and shut off the gas, another neighbor called the owners.

Ah, life in the village. 8)

Remember the Dogs

Post by Dakoda » November 5, 2005, 6:34 pm

not sure where the post about the dogs has gone :? but there has been a new development here. Seems that the dogs from next door, are all (7) missing, seriously I had not noticed, but the German came by walking his dog and he had noticed and brought it to my attention.

Then the conversation turned to the eating of dogs, ok maybe one  , but seven!

Sounds like we are going to be getting some quiet nights here in the village. :)

yes, they are even home today, being Saturday. I know that they had to pay twice before for bites, maybe a third happened and the cost was to high. but mostlikely they are just on vacation (the dogs) in the country for a few days. :?

Does it look like the lady with the cart has expanded her menu offerings, Dakoda? Pooch-ke-babs aren't too bad, I hear. =P~

Seriously, I like critters a lot but a neighbor's constantly barking dog (or SEVEN!) could get on anyone's nerves. I would get even by turning up the jams.

Jam Time!

Post by Garnet » November 6, 2005, 12:07 pm

I'm with you on that ploy, polehawk! I'd be cranking up the sounds and entertaining the offenders with everything from Golden Oldies, Old and New Country, stuff from the World War I and II era, Easy Listening and Crooners-type sounds, English and International Rock and Pop, and whatever else might hit my fancy when the beasties were on a howlling rampage--provided, of course, that I didn't have other neighbours to offend.

How does that saying go again.
People that live in Glass Houses don't throw stones

The neighbour across the way has the loud system, also has some pretty good tunes.

She also is on holiday, will have to check and see if she has some larger than normal drum sticks.

So the dogs are dealt with....

Now, how about the other dogs?..... the dealers that ploy their trade in the area where the kids play football, near the overgrown play area, late at night? A case again for a butcher maybe; but they look too skinny to me.

I personally live and let live; but there are too many kiddies around here for this

I'm missing something here :?: Now the overgrown play area, where the parents send their kids to play and their dogs to do their business, oh and the local drunks watering the grass. And some people are worried about bird flew. :?

Well yesterday I was wondering why the neighbor's dogs were all living outside the compound and attacking little kids. (twice that I saw) (one was a little funny in a sick way, they drove the little boy on his bike into the park fence, then after he crashed, they left).

Well TW informed me that the puppy had puppies. And sure enough this morn, I could see three of them. So we now have 10+ with four or five living on the soi

Where I used to live, if dogs loitered outside, arguing, barking, fighting or doing their ablutions, I would sneak out quietly and give them a sudden shower/dowsing with the garden house. :) After a while I noticed that when they were parading/walking down the Soi, they would speed up when passing my house.

They are really one soi over from me, and they know better about coming this way. Hey we have bottles of water across the front walkway, and my skepticism on the subject has been wrong! :?

Dakoda, Ah, there were bottles of water in a line along the front of our place when we moved in. I didn't understand the significance. Is it something to do with a deterent to dogs then, or just a quick access ammunition supply dump?! Can you explain?

Incidentally, the grapevine tells me there was a big fight along the lane last night. One guy with head injuries and another unconscious in hospital, (Thais) also with head injuries, but from failing to take the S bend as he sped from the scene at high speed on his motorbike. This was about 02.00- 02.30am last night. I must admit I did hear a lot of shouting and a motorbike travelling at high speed, just after 2.00am.

The accuracy of the above may be flawed due to the limitations of my Thai language skills!

Kind of an on going joke, with a Brit who lived on soi one!

But one day TW came back from the beauty salon and put bottles of water along the front. Later in the day the Brit came by, and laughing rang my bell, and asked about the water bottles. Well, I had no knowledge of how they got there. So I asked TW, "Oh sorry should have asked, first"! Of course I said "No problem, but these will not work!"

Like everything else here, I was so wrong again! Ok, they are not 100%, but this was six months ago, and instead of piles in our front yard everyday, I think it has happen about three times, and I have been counting! Around the forth day, with no piles, one appeared, and it was on top of one of the bottles, I said "see"! Glad she pays no attention to what I have to say.

So, if you look around the village, you will see the same! It is to deter dogs from stopping by and doing their business! And remember, nothing is 100% :!:
ncidentally, the grapevine tells me there was a big fight along the lane last night. One guy with head injuries and another unconscious in hospital, (Thais) also with head injuries, but from failing to take the S bend
Heard nothing last night, but if TW goes to salon tomorrow, I might get an ear full. It will depend on if she thinks I have a need to know, kinda of like the us government!
