"predominantly adult forum"

Maybe that should be a check block when applying for a username/password......"I understand Udonmap is predominantly an adult forum."

hahahahhahaahahahahhahah, your so funny! How long did it take you to think up that? All day? You name says it all! bye bye little man
Addressing the topic:

I see these type of remarks by a ''newbie'' as arrogant, contentious and improper etiquette to get welcoming responses from regular forum posters!

When challenged,(even tested when you are new)to respond like that with name calling, will not endear a newbie to the forum! If the attitude is''I don't care'',then I would also question the motive behind the title post by a newbie! Was it a serious topic of inquiry,or a topic to develop contentious posts in order to argue,a form of trolling?

Most people would not act out in such a manner upon meeting a new group of people ,in person!
Hear, hear Stan. Which is in exact agreement with my earlier post with reference to 'you reap what you will sow', and imo Dermot is sowing some pretty verbose attitude in the afore posts, therefore it should come as no surprise to him if the nature of his responses are reciprocated. Some would say very 'trollish' behaviour, all I would say is very childlike in some respects...you call me - I'll call you, you stick your tongue out at me - I'll stick my toungue out at you, You swear at me - and so on.....How Old guys?, chill out and grow up a little.....Please!

What is all this nonsense about 'newbies' anyway? If a captain with 20 years experience comes to a ship where the crew has been together for say a few years, but they think they know everything because they are full of themselves, and he has his own ideas, possibly from many years more experience, is he a newbie? Is he treated badly and attacked for having an opinion? Maybe not because of the disciplined nature of the crew, but maybe also because of respect for a fellow man. It seems too many people on this forum are ready to criticize and chastize people, call them 'newbies' , just because they may have an opinion. Apart from the necessity to sign up, this is a public forum which to all intense and purposes anyone can read, so where does anyone except the owner or moderators get off acting like judge, jury and executioner?

It depends if the poster is William Bligh. OT, are you up for a sidetrip to Tahiti?

Yep. Plenty of WFB's there running around with there titties out. And if Mel Gibson started kicking up a fuss again like he did last time I'd have him walk the plank into shark infested waters.

OK, let's put it another way, if everyone agrees with everyone else and pats each other on the back, which does happen on the other Udon forum, would you be the slightest bit interested in that forum. OT's no expert, but a forum where posters say what they want and challenge other posters remarks is interesting. I would say that all newcomers are welcome on Udon Map providing they are not homos and start crying when they don't get the response they are looking for.

OT........... \:D/
I've been a member 3 and a half years but only recently got active on the forum since I moved up here last week. Does that qualify me as a "Newbie"? Whatever, I have to say I enjoyed reading OT's post above. I can't comment on "the other forum" because I don't know what it is, but I can say I agree with the rest of OT's sentiments whilst raising an eyebrow to the "providing they are not homos" statement. I'm sure posters might cry when they don't get the response they are looking for whether they are homosexual, heterosexual or even bisexual! [-X

BTW - I preferred the Anthony Hopkins version of Mutiny on the Bounty.

But I'm a 'newbie' and definately not part of the 'clique' you have intimated - I sure haven't experienced the same as you on Udonmap.

See how easy it is to reply to a quite aggressive post without getting all riled up? Regardless of your post, I am not going to stoop to your level and reciprocate in the same manner, you are entitled to your opinion.

Eazy-going

You use the words trollish and childish and then say im entitled to my opinion when clearly by your original post you intimate that i am not.....

Interesting world you live in!

130 posts posts on this topic. Dermot, not picking on you but it's difficult not to notice, with 30 posts here and140 posts overall in five weeks membership, I think you’re already past the ‘newbie’ stage – and going for the world record? Have I a motive in saying that? You bet. That perhaps posters will find something more interesting to talk about. [-o<

I said earlier that I find this kind of topic mind-numbing. I appreciate it takes all sorts to make the world go round and members will have ‘issues’, myself included, but often it seems there are some people setting out every day just to be difficult, argumentative as if it’s some kind of ‘kick’, turn on. They’d argue the grass isn’t green for the hell of it. A sad existence, in my book. Whether it’s trolls, over-reaction by mods etc, the whole business is ****ing boring!

I wonder the effect on people looking in for the first time.If I've understood correctly, the website boasts c. 14,900 members, but a quick look at the members’ list shows many have never contributed a single post. I’d be interested to know just how many new members have joined in the last year and have contributed, what, more than 10 posts. Could this kind of topic put people off from contributing?

Brian, you point is very well taken and to a degree I actually agree with you!

Maybe Im not a newbie anymore but the point im trying to make is how many people have left the forum due to being treated badly? I would hazard alot more than left by reading this thread.

Again good post and well meant!

Why are you so concerned about how many people who have left this forum? Assume for instance only 1 person has left this forum because they perceive that they have been treated badly, what interest is that of yours. IMO your mischievously making a mountain out of a molehill. [-X

And your completely entitled to it however if you bother to read the thread thoroughly you will see that there are other people out here that feel even stronger than me!

So [-X yourself!

With 34 out of 136 post being attributed to you, I doubt that very much.

By the way, I noticed you didn't bother to answer my question.
