Sounds like another "Jim Thompson walkabout mystery", maybe the company was getting too successful and it was time for him to "vanish"?

I bumped into someone today who has been trying to contact Gareth without success, and who had commissioned him to do something for him at a cost of a few thousand baht. His words not mine.

Does anyone really know how long he's been gone? How long has the opfit been locked up? Is there any info coming through on the Thai grapevine? Your girls might know something, Lee.

When I was back in the new year I ran into Gareth in Bkk on my way home. I believe he is doing a lot more business down there these days, although you would think his staff would be in regular contact, TIT.

Good to hear the staff has returned and presumably the office is open again.

There is a Gareth Meadows located in Thailand on facebook, he's pictured with a new born baby, maybe this is the reason he shut up shop for a while. :-k

Yes, I s'pose that's enough for even the most cynical of us to go pink and fluffy but the OP still wants the keys to his house.

Lots of listings. This realtor, Preben, will usually answer emails in a day or so. He handled the transaction when we bought our place and was excellent.

Or, as suggested, you can drive around town and pick the area you wish to live in. Have your longhaired translator ask the residents and you will find that there are many places available to rent.

A little unsolicited advice would be to pick your area carefully or you could wind up living next to a house with an unregistered kennel full of soi dogs whose main function in life is to make your life miserable at all hours of the day or night with their constant yelping. And their dogs are pretty noisy, also. Or that house next door about 3 feet away could be populated with party animals who WILL crank up their karaoke machine very loudly so you don't miss a single note. \:D/

Good luck.

He might even be reading the forum and be in touch soon.

Any update on the missing property manager, is he really on paternity leave or has he ceased trading?

I spoke with Jon, Chern Chim, more than a month ago and he told me at that time that Gareth has closed his office, packed and left for the Phillipines, where he wanted to open a Real Estate agency.

I wonder then did he take the keys with him, to the properties that he had been entrusted to let? ;)

So Udon Is Not 'His Permanent Home' anymore then.....packed his bags with keys and did one...must of been a little heavy, maybe couldn't handle the fast pace of life in Udon.

But didn't Lee say on another thread that the UP&L opfit was still open? The Lincolnshire estate agent has gone, but what's become of his partner and the 'general manager'? :-k

They had a sign on a property near my place, but the sign has now gone. Hopefully the next lot who offer this place will be a bit more realistic with the price as I wouldn't mind living there, but 25k for a 2 bed place is simply taking the p***.

Crikey, are we allowed to use rude words on this Forum? What kind of 25K are we speaking of, 25 K American Dollars, 25 K English Pounds or 25 K Bahts? Were they selling or renting? Of course, the exchange rate would have a bearing if we're referring to foreign currency. It could have been advertised when the Sterling rate was 70 bahts to the pound or when it was down to 52 last year.

We just don't know, maybe you could e-x-p-a-n-d on what you said my fellow four-eyed friend. Feel free to use the Anglo-Saxon vernacular if it gets your meaning across. ;)
