Yeah, really good team work, Bumper. So did the old boy previously have a stroke?

Still not sure, it seems it may be age cause there is no slowness of speech in his native tongue. Keep in mind at my age when I refer to someone being old, they have been around for a few days ;)

It was a wierd situation I could tell he was having difficulty, but I really wasn't sure why and part of being a good neighbor is minding your own business. Turns out it was habving the normal difficulties we all have in adjusting to a new place.

He has already has had a very tough exposure to WBU by a Dutchman who was building a house the guy skipped with 2.5 Mil ( remember as told to me) So he has very little trust of anyone, understandable.

I think once he gets around the good people here given a few years he will be just fine. He knew and has been to Nobi's. So he a one German contact here now in the village, that should help.

I came to agreement with him last night I explained that I didn't want to intrude, so if he needed something he had to let me know.

We have a lot of good people in our community, we also have our fair share of bad apples as well. I went through something similar with the builder and a farrang rep, trust me it can make very leary of farrangs for awhile. But we evenually find people that we can sjare aspects of our lives with others. In my case it's riding, he will find the one that fits him.

You're sure it was a Dutchman and not an Englishman from UP&L who skipped with the cash? 2.5 million Baht or GBP 47K, that's a lot of money by anyone's standards.

So, when you hear somebody speak German, it sounds like the person had a stroke. I always thought of the language like that. (sorry Nobi) ;) ;) ;)

As for Dutch people, you just can't trust them. That's why I want to move to Thailand.

No when you he speaks German clear as a bell and a normal speed. English slow and slurred, what it was he was looking for the word in his mind.

On the house deal I'm not sure of anything. I know it was done through a comnstruction company. He showed me the contract I won't say say the company name I'm not sure of the name at the moment. I did note that one contract was written in the English Language. Other documents were in Thai.

I'll speak to a lawyer today that I trust, here in Udon, I know he speaks english, I don't know about German. See if ther is anyhthing that can be done to help him.

Just a short side note: Having been through this myself another individual filed a case as well, his english written contract was not recognized by the court. You need contracts to be done in Thai. If it's anyhting major get them translated before you sign.

The fraid needs much more digging to find out the full circumstances.

Bumper,
this man, your neighbour has a serious problem.
I know now,who it is,but have no adresses or phonenumber.
He was falling down 2 times from his Motorcycle,we helped him,
repairing his bike.Nothing happened to him, good luck.
It looked to me like a kind of stroke.May be,he don't know himself.
He wasm't drunk.I am not a doctor.
Problem is,he don't listen and don't want any help.
He told me about loosing money,Fawn had the right idea.G+S,of course.
There is a thread about this property company.Money is gone.
Please contact me,so we can talk with him in a privat atmosphaere,
I will try that somebody join us from the hospital.
We have to find out first what is about him.
Than we can do some arrengements.
Regards
Nobi

Thanks Nobi I have finally got the picture as well. I try to see if he is moving around the house each day. Defnite newbie who has no intention listening and trusts no one.

So I will try to be a good neighbor without telling him what to do, seems to be the only way to approach it and not cause problems.

I spoke to the Attorney mine, seems he has been there four times. but, won't pay for the lawyer. So I just told him I couldn't help him with that. The guy who has been doing the driving for him is named Twan works at the Chareon hotel. He is the person who helped me when I first got here, my experience with him is he a very honest person who tries to be helpful. But the guy doesn't want to pay him for his work, so I have no idea how long that will last. Everyone has to make a living here and that is how Twan does it.

He seem to get upset when things don't go the way he wants them but he has no clue how things work here adn as you said won't listen.

I'll see what I can do he is returning to Germany next month for ten days. all I will try to be friendly to him and leave it at that. He calls me over every evening to chat which is interesting, since he speaks very little English and normally shows me the same things from the day before. Waht he really needs is live in help. But, he doesn want to pay for it. So not much i can beyond trying to cj heck and make sure he is OK.

I'm going to P.M. you.

The one word that is always mentioned in all threads about thailand is " Money "

Be it for good reasons or most of the time not so good reasons , i thought thailand was the land of smiles but it seems that the only people smiling are the thais that rip off old westerners and gullable young swedish and british westerners .

Well hello Mr. Nicey been a long time. You can only be victim if you let it happen same as anywhere else.

Yes this guy will loose money he is a Newbie and like most including me won't listen. Far as I'm concerned it's his money and his dream, if he gets to live it at least once in his life he doing better then 90% of the population in the world.

You can' tell me you didn't enjoy your dream until it became a nighmare. If you thought it was real then you didn't get past newbie. This isn't about bashing Thailan There are many to choose from this isn't one.

Sorrry to see yuor nightmare is lasting so long. Hope your life gets better
