Wazza, there was an announcement from Australia Plus last week saying they had struck a deal with the AFL to show "key" games next year. Maybe that means only the Friday Night and Saturday Night games, who knows?
As long as it includes plenty of the Dees I'll be a happy puppy...or is that a Demon!?

Somchai, that sound very much like a "variation" of the package I have. Like all phone companies, ISPs and Pay-tv operators they always seem to muddy the waters so as to confuse you!

Had Home Cable here today to check out the new Digital Installation, they were not aware that the Australia Plus Channel had been cut off. I showed them the announcement that it had been cut in Thailand, but was available on True Cable, their response was that they would tell the Big Boss and hopefully can get from True and put it on Home Cable. How they will do this I really do not know, but I have noticed that there are many True Channels now on the new Digital Service. Here is hoping all is not lost. DU

Downunder - I followed your inspiration and called Homecable to find out about Australia Plus. THe lady at the other end had no idea (and my guess is that she neither knew that they had Australia Plus nor, consequently, that it was gone). I encouraged her to speak to the manager...

Dave, I fully understand what you are saying about 'muddying the water'. Same as Optus Telstra etc.

What I currently have is TOT (not too happy, many, though short, interuptions, and CTH (aka Homecable). While it is overall OK I am looking for something better, and loss of Australia Plus from Homecable is the trigger point.

We live just outside the ring road. Any recommendations which providers deliver quality service?

So.now we have confirmed games into Thailand and no f**individual service providers that carry it.

Change of topic. Was in Sports Bar today . Mate buying sausages and they will have the Aus Test matches on.

One can only dream of seeing the Ashes live in Udon in 2015

There are NO confirmed games into Thailand. Australia Plus no longer send signal
There is a service obtainable with True Cable here in Udon.
Get your facts right, read the previous threads.

Australia Plus is sending a signal, but via Intelsat 18, rather than 19.

The issue is not whether there is a signal, nor whether there will be games shown - it is whether your dish is capable of picking up Intelsat 18.

Otherwise it looks like True Visions cable is your only free option - unless you can stream from a pirate source.

Agree.
Going to try and locate Intelsat 18 in the next couple of days - it will be hit & miss.
Will let you know how I get on.
Any suggestions about moving the dish ?

Dave these are the co-ordinates for Intelsat 18:

Azimuth & elevation in Udon, Thailand: 93.9° & 3.5°

Taken from http://www.lyngsat.com/Intelsat-18.html

Unless you have a moving dish, where I understand the co-ordinates can be read via the box (Dero can confirm this, as he has one), you probably need a satellite locating device, which I imagine most good installers would have.

Alternatively ........... there is an app (or several) for that :D

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tedirector

Note: if you scroll down, there are several alternatives, all free.

I will be interested in your results. As I said earlier, there appears to be bugger all else worth watching on 18, so I doubt I will do anything until early next year.

Thanks Jack.
I found a couple of videos on You Tube.
Physically (moving it) it doesn't seem too hard.
The hard part is finding the signal.
The app sounds interesting.
Like you I am in no hurry (until AFL starts again), but I do like to watch the morning news and did like The World until it was gutted by these cutbacks.Watching those now often interrupts my wife watching Suriyat and the soaps!
Will let you know how I get on.

Lets see if Home Cable can obtain link from True Cable. About 5 years ago I had the aussie Channel with Infosat Satellite, no Thai Channels, mainly Korea and Japan. I still have the Decoder Box and remote control, so if all else fails can reconnect.

A quick look here http://www.satbeams.com/footprints?beam=7147 indicates that the signal is probably attainable in the Udon area from Intelsat 18.

It also shows the other co-ordinates for locating the satellite.

However, a 2.5m dish is recommended - by way of comparison, only a 1.3m dish is required for 19. :(

You can also see here:
http://www.satcomresources.com/tools/Intelsat-IS-18

BUT: I have a few trees to the East (on other properties) and my PSI system (Movable 2 Meter dish) is at a low signal strength now on Intelsat IS-19 --- 166 deg East. I, for one, will not attempt to adjust it down to 180 degs as I will loose satellites to the West with the limited arc of the actuator on the dish and the hardware.

Right now I'm happy with radio streaming -- 3AW, 6PR or ABC Grandstand -- AFL matches. Really don't need to see em! Just too busy.

We have Udon Cable and I noticed this evening that A+ was back on channel 8 as it was a week or so ago. It had disappeared for a few days this past week. I have no idea if it is back for good but we receive A+ now.

I recently changed from Cable to Digital on Home Cable, still no Aust.+ and as it is new it has many problems, but I am assured that they will be fixed in due time. TIT. Fortunately I still have Cable in the Bedroom to which I am also receiving Aust.+ So Footy problem solved????

A bit more investigation has revealed the following.

There are 2 satellites (besides Intelsat 18) which appear to be broadcasting free-to-air (FTA) Australia+ TV - based on what I have interpreted from the LyngSat website http://www.lyngsat.com/tvchannels/au/Au ... -Asia.html

- Intelsat 20, which is at 68.5 degrees east, and uses the C Band (the band used for the previous Intelsat 19, and the current Intelsat 18). http://www.lyngsat.com/Intelsat-20.html A 170cm dish is recommended.

- Telstar 18, which is 138 degrees east, and uses the Ku band for Australia+. http://www.lyngsat.com/Telstar-18.html A 110cm dish is recommended.

Comparing the 2 satellites, T18 seems to offer a far greater range of stations, over and above I18.

Switching to T18 will probably require a new Ku band LNB (the bulb-like unit which sits in front of the dish, and collects the actual signal). Bandung Dero advises that you can also buy dual LNBs, which will collect both C and Ku band signals.

Of course this may all be moot if the signals from one or both of these satellites cannot be received here (in the UT area).

What is required is for someone with a movable (via the receiver) dish to experiment by using the co-ordinates provided in the respective links above, and to report back.

Any volunteers? :D

Working Dog Productions recommend watching " The Dish " prior to changing stations.
