Did you know the Thai national dog (Bangkaew) is known for its intelligence and loyalty.

Oh dear. If Thais are neither intelligent nor loyal, then a few of us have taken big risks marrying or partnering with a Thai.

i don't know if it's the fracturing of families similar to the west but from one thai to next
you can't be sure what they're going to do or say , definite shift in value system. you
just run into the complete spectrum on a weekly basis. hiring staff must be nightmarish

I agree with that 4995. My oldest adult step-daughter speaks as rudely to my Mrs. as a stroppy farang daughter would. Not traditional Thai behaviour. Thailand is changing.

Sorry, I must've misread the post.
Thought this was about Thai staff, are you implying some are paying their wife's to stay with them?

The school system is to blame for the children's behavior. Lazyness and cheating seem to be the norm. Also large classes cannot inspire quality but only mediocrity

Actually although the School system could be to blame, it is the general laid back attitude and Thainess which is to blame, they do not complain, they do not correct, they in fact do nothing to upset their personal karma UNLESS of course they feel like it. Discipline begins at home NOT SCHOOLS, and when you have a now upwardly mobile and connected youth , then the old rules are broken with gay abandon and the ADULTS do not know what to do. I read a very informative article some time ago, asking why Thai youth shun the temples, the simple answer is that as far as I can perceive and I may well be wrong, That having had Thai culture shoved down their throats for so long and with the technological advances showing openness and the many answers they ( the children ) just do not get at home, the youths are rebelling but, also and as well as , the vast majority of Thais ( adults )not having had a good education then their knowledge of the world is also limited and they cannot understand nor even comprehend the world is changing, so they entrench themselves even more in Thai culture and their religion, which then causes the youth who are connected to object in the only way they can by rebelling.

Rose certainly doesn't have much luck. She bought her shop on rented army land 5 years ago from the village head and paid taxes on it every year. Then the vacant land next door was bought from the same village head (i.e. the rights to use the army land) by a rich woman with connections. The woman wanted Rose's driveway at the side of her shop and set about intimidating Rose with threats from various quarters including from high placed police officials. Rose took the woman to court in 4 appearances over 2 years and it ended with the judge granting the other woman half of Rose's driveway. Rose no longer had anywhere to park her tuk tuk and had to go out and buy a motorbike. The judge strongly admonished the other woman and told that she had to build a 2 metre high wall between the properties. Rose wanted to appeal but the judge told her that the army were taking back land all over Thailand and if the case went on any longer it might be seen on the army's radar and both parties could be kicked off for causing trouble.

The village head man, who lied through his teeth in court for the other woman, came to see Rose after the case and told her he was sorry he told lies about her to the judge but said "what could I do, she threatened to ruin me if I didn't testify on her behalf". Yes, so much for Thai morals.

I've heard the other woman is all but finished anyway. Serves her right. She has a business for sale sign on her door. Agree with Malc and Kruklanki that Rose is the best around for fixing farangs backs, legs and so on.
