AZscott,
Unfortunately it is the hottest time of the year, can be pushing 40c.
The schools close mid-March for a couple of months in the hot season.
But nothing to worry about.......a few cool beers and airconditioning will take care of you !

Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Hi Mo1medic, My wife has the internet shop opposite the monkey park in Kumphawapi. There are not many farang in Kumphawapi but quite a few in the villages on the out skirts, can normally find some of us at the KP hotel in the afternoons making use of the gym and pool.

As for bars, pretty thin on the ground and not that good, there is a nice restaurant by the lake, good for a beer and some food in the evening.

Maybe see you soon.

John

Towards S.W. of Udon Thani, theres Phu Poilom (National Park) that will take many days to explore, dinosaur island etc., nearby theres also Wat Pah Ban Tard, well known meditation center where Lung Por Maha Bau conducts his teaching, all around Udon Thani 30 to 50km aways are lots of interesting history, geology, fossils, caves etc. but pretty useless asking the locals seems like they only travel between their village and center-point, theres a tourist information center at nong prajak which is a good start to know Udon.

good luck
