The Tops lady didn't ignore him but she seemed to give him a right dressing down then turned to me and served me. He didn't look so cool. I gave him my f**k you look...Image

Trying to get in the door of the bus was like something I have never seen before - I and lived some time in China, where I thought the world's best queue jumpers all reside.

I, being of Chinese heritage, am embarrassed to say, that I agree with jackspratt 100%. The Chinese particularly from Mainland China don't seem to feel the need to follow what most of the rest of the world would be the conventions of polite behavior. I could tell you so many stories, but I am sure jackspratt could tell me more

The Chinese in Thailand I have found to be very polite. The Chinese in America are generally very polite except the older ladies don't seem to feel the need to queue sometimes and some men think it is okay to spit on the sidewalk.

some men think it is okay to spit on the sidewalk.
It has become a trend for young high school students (male and female) in Toronto, Canada to spit on the sidewalk.

Yes, this habit used to be associated with Chinese and Sun Yat-sen and Chiang K'ai-shek tried to halt the practice, but failed.
We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and by the depths of our answers.

In China, its recognised as a source for the spread of Active TB , when spitting in public places, the associated aerosol contains the TB bacteria and is inhaled by passers by.

Having just returned from 2 weeks in China I can honestly say The Thai are 10 times better people than their more populous Asian cousins. People not only spit on the steet but in buses, lifts and on shopping escalators.
Mothers bring their toddlers out of shops to have a crap on the footpath, wash the backside with some water then life goes back to normal. [-(
The queue jumping is particularly prevalent and has left me with a view of the Chinese I cannot put to print. Suffice to say the UN should have nuked the bast@rds in the Korean conflict. :-"

I was at the Dubai airport waiting to get on the Thaiair flight to BKK. The gate area was full. As soon as they open the door, a third of the room (all Arabs) got up and growded toward the gate. It was still 10 minutes before they were ready to start boarding the plane. But, they stayed crowded around the door.
This is one case where I just cannot understand the desire to jump the line. Why do folks want to be the first to board anyway? For me, I am very happy being the last to get on and be confined for xx hours. Let me remain standing as long as possible, thanks. Then when I do sit in my seat (having prayed for no morbidly obese neighbors), It feels good to sit....at least for a while.

Where I live, Q jumping rarely if ever happens. I had an elderly lady with a full cart tell me I could go ahead of her at the grocery store. I only had one or two things, no cart, no basket. I thanked her and then looked to the back and said "Ok kids, bring the carts up here". Her jaw dropped, then she looked at her husband and his jaw dropped. Then I said 'just kidding...' and she gave a smile, though strained, then a bigger one when it hit her that she had been had. then she laughed.

Man killed for queue jumping

Published: 24 Feb 2013 at 15.50
Online news:

A man was killed by two teenagers after he cut into a queue to get food for his child at a religious ceremony in Chiang Mai province on Sunday, police said.

Pol Col Suchart Kan-ngen, of Chiang Mai police, said the victim was named as Mon Lungpan, aged 43, from Shan state in Myanmar.

On Sunday morning, Mon took his wife and child to a merit-making ceremony held at a temple in Chiang Mai's Mae Taeng district.

The ceremony was crowded with people, many of whom were lining up to get free food.

A confrontation started when Mon cut into the queue to get food for his child. Two teenagers who were standing in the queue became angry with him and one of them slashed his throat with a broken beer bottle.

The two men then fled on a motorcycle.

Mon was rushed to Maharaj Nakorn Chiangmai Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Pol Col Suchart said police knew the whereabouts of the two teenagers and were gathering more evidence and witnesses before seeking arrest warrants.

Gee sounds like the Burmese "slave girl" abuse reprised.. Of course the two murderers would never run away... Two guys involved in slashing a guy's throat with a broken bottle and the cops need an arrest warrant??? Can't get one on a Sunday?? No probable cause with many witnesses and by the cops statement they know who these mugs are??

Well the victim was only a Burmese after all.

Having said that, my buddy is a defense lawyer in Texas and was defending a very nasty, Mexican gang banger who had tortured and murdered a Pakistani gas station attendant while high on drugs. His client got off with a 5-year sentence which he thanked his lawyer for. My buddy told him it wasn't due to any special court room skills but since the white, East Texas jury reckoned that it was a non-person from one minority killing someone from another, even lesser respected minority, it wasn't something to get all riled up about.

I wonder exactly what powers the cops have here, sounds like probable cause to me. Yet a warrant is needed. I'm beginning top think life gets cheaper by the year here.
