On the plus side I thought my adapter on my old laptop was knackered (no green light) so I went to Udon Central (Charoensri Complex where I bought it) and the guy told me it had to be ordered from Bangkok and it would be about 3-4,000 Baht... (I'll get back to you on that one). I went to IT108 or 108IT on Wattana Nuwong Road and the guy there took that adapter from me and tested it. He said the adapter was ok and it was just the lead that went from the electrical outlet to the adapter that was knackered. He said they didn't have that type and to try in Robinson's complex (IT section). Sure enough they did have one and I think it was 80 Baht. This guy could have sold me an adapter for 2-3,000 Baht and I'd have been non the wiser. Instead I paid about 80 Baht and that ACER is still buzzing along today. =D> =D> =D>

Personally I NEVER go to Robinson for anything electrical except for ladies hair products (dryers and the like)
Robinson staff are not on the same planet, so many people do not buy from them any sale is seen as a challenge top make more commision (Ithink).

Last night me, my TGF, and my friend from the states went to George's Beer Garden on Posri Road just south of the Ring Road intersection. It's a German-Thai restaurant and bar. I was surprised to see they had a couple of bar girls working there. Have been there before and don't remember the girls. It's more of a restaurant than a bar. Anyway the girls sat next to my friend (no problem) while we drank and ate supper. When we got our bill he was charged an extra 140 Baht for two cokes for the bar girls. The thing is, he never offered or agreed to buy them the cokes and even if he had 70 baht each is very steep price. Rather than create a fuss he paid but said he would never go back. I have reached the same conclusion. He was a little drunk so I think they were taking advantage of him. Rather than trying to cultivate future business, this bar like so many others, just trys to get it while they can. I heard this same guy is opening up a place over near the complex on Wattana Nuwong Rd. He won't last long if he uses the same business practices there.

Tutone, could it be that it was the girls who didn't or weren't able to explain it to the farang customer and instead just took advantage of the situation (without the boss/owner realising)?

I've found that sort of thing often in Karaokes. The girls sometimes ask for drinks, other times the drinks just turn up. Or I agree to buy one girl a drink and their 2 friends sitting close by, or on the other side of the table, acquire one too! Also other girls drop by your table, with a drink in their hand, which you later find out is on your bill!

I've also had them sharing my food as well as my drink.

I do find it annoying when, as in some places, you get charged for the time they sat with you, when no one in fact told you that was the case.

I think most of it is down to the communication difficulties (even though I speak some Thai) and that they use that situation to their advantage. :?

Show them that you are a man of principle and never visit that park again unless you are prepared to dump a truckload of worms.

The audacity of some Thais astounds me!

My point exactly. They took advantage of the situation. I was sitting across the table the whole time and never did he offer or did they ask for a drink. I think that they just thought or hoped that in his slightly drunk condition he wouldn't notice his tab being inflated. I know that's how the girls make a living but this is a little bit much IMO, especially when those short glasses were 70 baht each.

Wow Saint! One would think you were on the road to purgatory...hmmm...maybe you are and listening to that is the first step on the road to aeons of mind-numbing pain. Anyway, congratulations on surviving. Next time...if there is such a thing in your future...you might want to consider borrowing a handful of those v's that LA carries around with him.

What do you mean the rock is created from larva? Was it hatched from some insect and undergoing metamorphis or what? Whoops, I am thinking of lava...or am I, or are you? This is getting confusing. Is there a man of science in the house?

Anyway, thanks for your thoughts about the location of the video.

Don't you mean, 'a sack loads of cats being neutered'? Why on earth would you want to mute cats without anesthetic?
Neuter

10. Veterinary Science. to spay or castrate (a dog, cat, etc.).
