Grimsby is to Scunthorpe what Sunderland is to Newcastle and Everton to Liverpool , most folks who live in Grimsby when asked where are you from reply Clleethorpes as it far to embarassing saying Grimsby ,,,, people from Scunthorpe are called Scunthonians , where as Grimsby residents are known as " lazy harry the haddock stinky fish smelling cod head benefit scrounging scum ".... well that what it says on the "all codeads are ******* website" ( domain listed in Scunny )...... NO OFFENCE INTENDED !!

I had a similar thing happen to me when a girl said .... hey big Jon take me to heaven so i took her to see the Scunny v Doncaster 3 - 0 home win ..... btw she stil calls me the Scunthorpe STALLION !! .

I have always found the folks from the North East to be dam nice , just wish they would speak English proper i what i does.

Mr Mash

I think that may well have been directed at me...
...as I keep telling you I am Cleethorpes born and bred, (never thought I'd be admitting to that on open forum but far better than being a Codhead), however nowadays, unless born at home, or back of a taxi/underneath Cleethorpes pier etc, as Cleethorpes no longer has a maternity home all of the poor souls now have to be born in Grimsby.

Personnally speaking I have nothing really against Scunny folk, once they are cleaned, house trained and given a modecum of an education, they can make quite decent pets, however they do bruise easily due to many years of inbreeding and being pushed around and ridiculed... by just about everyone.

Indeed the best fish n chips are located at Steeles fish n chip emporium in Cleggy ,,,,,,, best by a mile .I personally have nowt against Cleggy or the folks that reside there , however Grimsby is another thing id rather live in OBLS old gaff then on the Nunsthorpe estate even Doks must agree its a god foresaken ----- of a place.

Hi Astana

Glad you're enjoying my home town and especially the Haddock, (an individual of a fish fry), and chips, (a true Meggie would never eat Cod, we send all of that 'darn Sarf'). If you want to wash it down with an excellent hand pulled pint, nip to my bar The Nottingham Hotel - depending what the guest beers are at the time we do a cracking Old Peculiar, XXB, Hob Goblin, Spitfire, London Bride and of course Tetley, you'll be sure of a friendly and warm welcome. If you do pop in, say hello to the crowd, and my Mum, from Simon.

If you stick around in Cleethorpes long enough, you may even get to see the sea come in....

Agree with you about the grumpy Farang remark, we are a friendly bunch from Cleethorpes...Smiles mor Fun!!!

Enjoy tour stay.
Cheers Dokya

Got to agree with you Mash, the Nunsthorpe estate leaves a lot to be desired...twinned with Beirut. And that is were the maternity home is situated so for the past 15 years or so, virtually everybody in the area has the proud claim to being born on the Nunny...even I'd rather make the 30 min trip to Scunny maternity than have that on my birth certificate.

Steeles Fish restaurant, the absolute 'poodles private parts' were a fish n' chips is concerned.

Back on topic, having stayed in BKK for a few months when first arriving in Thailand to live, I personally could not wait to leave the place. IMO it's a stinking, polluted, over populated Farang rip off haven and I would say there are by far a lot more Farang soap dodgers and pissheads there than there are in UT. Only generalising here, but I think that the ex-pats who have come to UT and the area to live seem to be a lot more savvy and a cut above, (also the majority are older and settled in their relationships).

You get grumpy men in all walks of life and take them away from behind their computer keyboards, I would say that the majority I have personally met and aquainted myself with are very personable, albeit prone to the odd whinge and moan at times...but aren't we all?

Dokya. Absolutely loving my life in UT, even with all of its foibles.
