More mongers, more ex-pats selling up in Pattaya and moving to Udon.
Less smiles from the locals. More shops.

one other thing, when you post you have to check what forum you are on..
and the birds in nutty park will give you a STD, please trust me on this one, however antibiotics are fairly cheap - except that big injection up the backside which is needed to combat a serious infection.
OT.. handing out useful information as usual..

I remember when I came here for the first time... That was back in Jan 2004... So quiet back then, a perfect place to hide from the rest of the world. The locals were so friendly back then. Everything wad so cheap.

Do most expats think the influx of more farangs into Udon has decreased the quality of life? What are the reasons for the decrease?tony525 wrote:I remember when I came here for the first time... It is still a little piece of paradise! the influx of farangs is every 5 years.
Re: coming back to Udon, anything radically new since January?
I can't imagine the "Walking St" tag was intended for UD Centre, it only sells Chang, mainly caters for Thai and looks nothing like walking st. (day or night), I should thing the tag was intended for Day&Night complex (hasn't that been going for 18 months now?). One change in there that's vastly improved is the music is at one level and one source plays through the entire hanger, thanks to Kenny at G-spot.
Why do some falang think it's OK to judge others and place themselves so high in standards, maybe those are the people that make UT a bad place (although imo it isn't) I think Udon is a perfect balance of most things, albeit to many bars, making it hard to find a crowd and an atmosphere. We're all different, D&N is not my cup of tea, I'd much prefer a quiet beer in Irish clock with a group of friends and finish off in Yellow Bird, others couldn't dream of a nite out without their fix of D&N, it doesn't make them or me a better or worst person, just different.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the DUI campaign, most thought it would fizzle out after the NY celebrations, but I guessed they would continue it (too much of a money spinner). If you normally drink and drive in the centre of town you will need to change your habits, either find new watering holes away from the centre, get a room, or get on a sam-laaw.

And you know this how? You got STD from one lady or have you really tried them all? And did you get it from every one because that is what you are implying? I take it you informed the owners of the establishments so they can take precautions?
