Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
Sounds like good news to me ............... Andy and Moss "working" together again after, after (what is it) 4 years?
Not too sure who will be leading who astray this time !!
What will he do now that he can't complain about the "leaky roof" over his bed?

They won't lack for customers. Wish them much success.
In a way it is too bad they are not involved with the continuance of Cher Chim. IMO they among the few that have the expertise and contacts that are necessary to replace Jon.

That's good news.
A lot of us remember the food Andy cooked at the City Lodge. It was not the same when he left.

To be fair, most of the stuff I cook at home is not "the same" after it's been in the fridge for a few months !!

it will be called Yummy Beer and Bake
With a name like that, may be we can look forward to a "house speciallity" using beer lao dark .
Beer bread? .......... a nice stodgy bread pudding with loads of fruit and beer in it? Beer cake instead of coffee cake or banana cake? or what about a nice beer & apple suet pudding mmmmmmmmmmm.

Yeah, not sure about the name.
Yum Yum is Vietnamese slang for a blow job.

Being the nice, kind.considerate type of person that I am OT, I will endevour to help you in your efforts not to get "wasted". Just tell me when you will be there, and I'll come along and drink half of your beer for youThat way you will at least remain half sober !! ............. good idea?old-timer wrote:OT's going to get totally wasted in this new place and puke up everywhere... no only joking, I will give it a go though.
OT..........
From what I hear on the grapevine this place could be a "haven" for "cheap charlies" ........ good food AND cheap beer at the same place
And if they are serving Vietnamese Yum Yum as well ......... (not served by Andy or Moss !!) what more can a guy ask for?
Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
Yes, very good idea. I was thinking that since the Night Market Get together has been a total waste of space since OT stopped going, maybe we could make this place a new venue for getting boll0xed once a month. Maybe we could switch it about and go to places like 652, and other bars ?stattointhailand wrote: Being the nice, kind.considerate type of person that I am OT, I will endevour to help you in your efforts not to get "wasted". You could always pick about 30 bars and have one meeting a month at each !!

Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
I don't think anyone ever "nicks" customers as you say
If customers at A Beer too Far descide that what is being offered is a better deal for them, then they will go, in the same way that customers from The Monkey bar/Mojo's/Steve's Bar and everywhere else will descide on what is the best place for them ......... THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT ............. A couple of years ago, many of the customers that now frequent AB2F used to eat and drink at the City Lodge, but when the deal at the then Aussie Bar now AB2F became (in their opinion) a better choice for them, they voted with their feet, and started to frequent the Aussie Bar. ......... Did the Aussie Bar "Nick" the customers from City Lodge? ........ NO, if the City Lodge was offering the same or a better deal to it's customers, they would have tried the Aussie Bar and then gone back to the City Lodge. It is up to the management at the other bars to make sure that they keep their customers happy, and provide a service that their customers will return for time and again. If they don't then they shouldn't be in the business that they are in,

Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
In total agreement there statto,i know that on this forum and ut there have been numerous requests for Andy and his whereabouts as he is a very agreeable person to have a drink and a chat with(besides his culinary skills),i for one drink in ab2f,always have and will still go in there but i will also drink in new establishment as well. My hard earned and i will spend it where i like as i am sure will others, most individuals have minds of there own.

Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
My feelings exactly Johnty. I will on occations go to the new bar for a meal (an hopefully a chat) with Andy, but as long as AB2F provides good food (and I see no reason that they will not unless the new establishment refuses to supply AB2F with bread/pies etc), why should the existing customers not return?
I'm sure that Jan is perfectly aware of why there are less customers in AB2F now than say 3 months ago, and he is intelligent enough and experienced enough to rectify the problems before it's too late.

Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
I think for most it will still be a beer too far(pool, darts, food and a good selection of bars close too),for a quieter change maybe somewhere else? as i said i fully intend to stick to my old ways(just become the norm for me) and nobody can heat up a pie as good as young Tom

Re: Andy chef ex City Lodge
In answer to your comment Stratus, my "quoted post" referred only to the bar business and not the bakery which I know nothing about. I eat and drink in the bar not the bakery.
