Posters,numbers surprised me!

It is amazing how I can find ways to keep myself busy in retirement

I have only participated on 4 forums in the last 11 years,all of them in Thailand.I never knew much about forums other than sharing information and opinions.Anyway,this morning,after reading all the posts and finishing my coffee,I noticed that we have a lot of members,but not a lot of daily posts.I looked at the list of members and

I saw that out of 1244 members,836 or 67% never posted 1 time,another191 or 15+% posted no more than 3 times and in fact 1123 or 90% have not made 10 postings.The 15% with 1-3 posts probably have a question for anyone in this area and are not interested in conversing,but ,the 67% that never posted

I was wondering why join the forum if they do not intend to post?

Maybe so they can read the ''nightlife '' posts

?

I don't know what this signifies or that it has any relevance whatever

.Maybe I will go back to more serious ''rainy season''retirement endeavors like double solitare,intermediate level

Stan..It may surprise you or even amaze you that many members here who like myself "dont post"
are infact dropping by most days to see if there is any worthwhile or meaningful news regarding life and progress in Udon. (we are not sex maniacs lurking to uncover the locations and menu of dens of iniquity in your fine city)

Most of us ( "the others" ) dont see a need to participate in what is usually opinions expressed by a very small group of "usual suspects" ....given that your opinions ....ah sometimes rants.... IMHO dont always seem either logical or even sensible.

I do however appreciate the worthwhile news and information which only the inhabitants of Udon can submit and discuss....for one I would join in if I did not live back here in farangland as I expect my opinions about Udon to be based just on IMHO.......not newsworthy !

I do enjoy the forum just as an observer as I have visited Udon Thani a number of times and have my darling lady travelling to and from farangland and Udon reguarly......

Maybe when it my turn to retire to our lovely home near Nong Prajak Park I might have the time and inclination to become "a usual subject" regards John

I hope I didn't make the impression that those who don't post are ''sex maniacs''.Not having a lot of experience with online forums,I am not sure if I fit your description of a ''usual suspect'' or not.I to make judgements about some of the posters ''rant'' and ''opinions'',and react to ''them as my personality dictates.For instance,it is my opinion,in this reply, that you use IMHO inappropiately!It is my first impression of your reply,to think IMO would be more appropiate in this case.Maybe ,I have to much experience in Thailand for you in Falangland and my ''opinions'',experiences,interests and living habits are to foreign for you to readily accept!Or maybe I am a maladjusted,terrible communicator,cynic that has nothing relevant toinform you about!Gee,I don't know,only you can tell me.
Anyway,I see you have made your 3rd post and I feel responsible!What should I do to celebrate?I know,I will find a local expat from OZ and we will toast you and me.

I also particiapte from time to time in other countries forums just to see different points of view, but seldom post on them. I post here one heck of a lot truthfully most of the time just to get something going and from time to time some really worhwhile things.

Altough people live in the states are whereever you have thoughts and opinnion and they would be appreciated.

Forums are odd things I belong too a Bagio forum as it a place I want to vacation when I can. Someone posted a article about how how women in Bagio thought of women with Farrangs. Nothing new but you hould have seen the reponse over a 100 in 24 hours and it is still going srtrong, Even brought religion into play. Sometime hot subjects really bring people out, but when yuo really look at it, there are only about seven people involved in it.

So you got something to say please participate I can learn from you as much as you can learn from me.
