party pills or drugs

I have opened this thread separate from others I have on the go, because there is nothing whatsoever to suggest that the two threads, or issues are connected. I am just after info to rest my own mind on certain matters..

I am abit of an old horse now, the days of the party animal have long gone, however when in thailand I see hordes of young tourists and backpackers in the party spots, phuket, kol samui, BKK, and I see them drunk and off their heads. Now I was wondering if there is a party pill scene, or rec drug scene in these places or in bars etc etc...can a tourist get thier hands easily on some sort of yabba pill, speed, or trip, etc etc..do locals dudes offer these things for sale at farang party spots, like they do tuk tuks and girls..

Maaka, I would imagine the drug scene is the same around the World. If you want to partake in certain chemicals you will find like minded people no matter where you are. If you read the Bkk Post you will see the Police are busting people for Yabba, Cocaine and Canibus all the time, so the answer is Yes.

on my second trip to thailand we were in koh samui and had a pizza with magic mushrooms on top,i remember sitting at this bar/restaurant and everybody was saying this is ---- nothing happening and then bang we looked at each other and said check bin lets get out of here, wow was that an experience never again took me a couple of days to be normal again,that was 15 years ago so yep to answer your question.

In Pattaya there is a 'Scene' but very damgerous world to get involved in here. Just ask the hoardes of Europeans and Americans in Thai Jails doing hard time!

I didnt come accross it anywhere else but in Pattaya I have been asked in the not too distant past if I needed X or coke on walking street out of the blue. Who knows if these guys were cops trying to entrap tourists or if they were for real....

About 5 years ago I was in the marine disco and the cops did a raid and lined all the farang and thai males up outside the male toliets and all the females outside the female toilets. We all had to pee in a cup and then they put in like a litmus stick. It had different indications on it for different Drugs. Obviously I passed, if they had been doing a test for alcohol I would have failed miserably, lol. I saw one farang guy being walked to an ATM, I wonder what that was for!!!!

go back approx 5-7 years ago when PM Taksin approved of the murders of over 2500 drug dealers .

the approval for the elimination of drug dealers was throughout the Thai political scene and higher.. People like to paint Taksin like he had the gun in his hand.. He led, the political/police/military followed.. Unfortunately, it ended up trending "political" so folks that were on the political "outs" ended up on the "blacklist".. Not a good time indeed but the average Thai approved wholeheartedly to include the current ruling party.

I was just wanting an update on the current scene in LOS, to compare to the old scene I once knew.

In June 1998, I was sitting less than 10 feet away from the cook at the neighborhood 'restaurant'. His wife and two young children were at one of the tables eating their supper. A guy pulled up in a pickup truck, popped 4 rounds into the cook and walked (walked) to his truck. My wife and I sped down to the local police box (200 meters away). The cop there was not interested. We called the Udon police station. No one came. When we talked to the villagers in the neighborhood over the next few days, they all claimed they knew the cook was selling drugs on the side (especially to truck drivers). Not a single person we talked to seemed to bat an eyelash at the mode of justice. The same day, 3 others supposed drug dealers were executed in Udon.
If there's been a time of culture shock during our long stay here, that was indeed the time. Only a few journalists took up the cause in the newspapers...but overall, I didn't witness/read/hear any complaints from the natives.
